Dear Karoo PS Community,
What a wonderful celebration of our community coming together for Family Fun Night, on Thursday 19th March. Thank you to all our families who joined us for a fun filled afternoon of games, laughter and connection. It was a wonderful opportunity to build community and celebrate our school spirit.
A HUGE thank you to Miss Jess Cole for her organising of the event and all our staff and Karoo Parents Association (KPA) who supported the night to ensure the afternoon was such a success!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came along to our School Working Bee! We are grateful for the time, effort, and community spirit on display as families, students, and staff came together to enhance our school environment. Gardening, moving sand and rocks, and refreshing the School Garden were all completed quickly thanks to many helping hands. It was wonderful to see everyone connecting and taking pride in our school, finishing with a well-earned sausage sizzle, drinks, and zooper doopers to celebrate a fantastic morning.
We truly appreciate your support in making our school such a great place for everyone!

On Friday the 13th of March, we held our leadership assembly to recognise our Student Representative Council Leaders (SRC) and PLAY Leaders. The assembly was a celebration of leadership across the school and acknowledging the key role our SRC and PLAY Leaders have in leading our school as role models and support for all of our students. Mr Kim Wells, MP for Rowville and Mr Max Williams, Candidate for Rowville presented the students with their badges and shared key insights with our school community about leadership.
Student Representative Council
The Student Representative Council (SRC) plays an important role in giving students a voice within the school. SRC members represent their peers, share ideas and concerns, and work together with staff to help improve the school community. They also support and lead initiatives such as events, fundraising, and community projects, building leadership skills and encouraging positive change across the school. These leaders have been voted by their peers to represent their voice at SRC meetings. Classes from Yr 3 to yr 6 are represented.

PLAY Leaders
Each day during the first half of lunch, our amazing Year 5 PLAY Leaders are out in the playground supporting our younger students to learn how to engage in play, build friendships and feel confident.
To build the skills to run these sessions, our PLAY leaders completed training last year to prepare for this important role, and it’s wonderful to see them putting their leadership skills into action. They are fantastic role models who help make our playground a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.

The Karoo PS Colour Run 2026 is almost here! The event will take place on Friday, 1st May from 4:00pm to 5:30pm at Karoo PS.
This exciting event is our MAJOR fundraiser for the year, helping us enhance our school by completing upgrades to our basketball courts and purchasing additional decodable readers to support student learning.

Students who raise the most funds will get first choice of prizes, followed by the next highest fundraisers. There will also be a range of fun incentives along the way to keep everyone motivated! Our first step is LAUNCHING our Fundraising Platform - we will be using 'Shout for Good' as the digital platform to support our Colour Run fundraising. Please see instructions below for how to set up and access your child's fundraising page.
