French with Naomi

Students have been working towards producing their République Française carte nationale d’identité (Identity Card). Naomi has been working with students to develop their French language around greeting others, introducing themselves and giving personal details. They have explored the country of France, locating different places and choosing themselves a French address and name. Don't they look great in their berets with their baguettes!

Class 2/3 with Kim

Our class have been doing a literacy unit on the mentor text The Concrete Garden by Bob Graham.

A timely, inspiring and uplifting story about hope and the power of creative expression and finding optimism after a dark spell, and the nurturing power of community friendships.     Kim's students have been looking at illustrations and how illustrators help readers to understand the story by using different elements such as layout, colour, shape, lines, and shot variation.  This also helps readers to better understand the author's message.

Wellbeing

Kim's Friday afternoon Wellbeing class with the 2/3s focused on developing skills to build friendships and a sense of belonging. Today we looked at these ideas about unhealthy friendships and what we can do to help ourselves and our friends when things aren't going smoothly. If you have had a conversation with your child recently about how to navigate friendship difficulties then this might be a helpful discussion starter. It comes from the Grow Your Mind program which is used throughout each classroom in our school.

Year 6 Inquiry

After visiting our school library, students in Steph's Year 6 class were eager to find more books to help them conduct research for their Passion Projects. They had a lesson on the Dewey Decimal System so that they knew which area of the library they would find relevant information and then on Tuesday afternoon, the class went on a local excursion to the Mount Beauty Library. During their visit, librarian Audrey helped our students to navigate the libraries computers to look up texts. The class has borrowed some useful books and we have placed an order on some others. It's great for our students to be in the community, discovering some of our great local resources.

Year 4 Leadership

Gallery Image

While our year 3 and 5 students undertook NAPLAN last week, our Year 4 students planned and organised some student lead lunch time clubs with Kathryn.  Students have advertised their clubs around the school with posters. A reminder announcement from club leaders over the schools speaker system each day ensures lots of attendance and enthusiasm. Well done Year 4s for the way that you have lead and included others.

Monday - Cat Circus Club lead by Phoenix, Isla and Sienna

Tuesday - Games Club lead by Dexter and Loki

Wednesday recess - Craft Club lead by Mimi and Eleanor

Wednesday lunch - Soccer Club lead by Christian and Luca for the Yr 4-6 and Erin and Miranda for Prep - Yr 3

Thursday - Dodgeball lead by Sam, Leo, Gunnar, Sacha and Mason

Friday - Party Club lead by Grace, Anthony, Norah and Thelma

Clubs will continue next week, so there are plenty of opportunities to join in and have some fun.

Our new Kitchen Garden group has been discovering the plants around the school and developing their skills in the kitchen.

The Circus group have been learning all sorts of skills including scarf juggling, hula hooping and developing some routines. We will have an opportunity to see some of these routines at next Friday's assembly.
