Harmony Day Hands Competition
This year, the Harmony Day Committee is running a Harmony Day Hands Competition! Please collect a hand template (or more than one!) from Student Ministry this week. Decorate your hand in a way that you believe best represents Harmony Day.
Return your completed hands to Student Ministry by Monday 23 March. Make sure your name and Year group are clearly written on the back of each hand. You may decorate as many hands as you like.
There will be prizes for each Year group!
Why Are We Decorating Hands?
Harmony Day hands symbolise that everyone belongs. They represent unity, diversity, and the coming together of different cultures. They promote inclusivity, respect, and the idea that our differences make our community more interesting and beautiful.
Key Meanings of Harmony Hands
Everyone Belongs - The central theme of Harmony Day — reminding us that regardless of background or culture, we are all part of one community.
Respect for Diversity - Students often use different skin-tone pencils or colours to represent the rich tapestry of cultures in Australia.
Action-Oriented - Hands symbolise reaching out to help others, building connections, and making a positive difference.
Orange Significance - Hands are often decorated in orange, the official colour of Harmony Day, representing social communication, freedom of ideas, and mutual respect.
