FROM THE OFFICE

ADMINISTRATION NEWS
Welcome to our first newsletter for 2026, in this newsletter we'll give a quick rundown of administration matters.
As we move further into Term 1, we would like to remind you of our school's attendance policy/procedures:
https://education.nsw.gov.au/policy-library/policies/school-attendance-policy
ATTENDANCE:
Absent from School:
If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, family commitments, appointments or any other reasons, please notify us as soon as possible. You can do this by:
• Calling the school office 9607 8710 to report the absence
• Sending an email to the school greenvally-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au with your child’s name, class and the reason for the absence
• Respond to the text message you will receive once the rolls are marked.
• Record the absence on the ‘Sentral for Parents’ app.
Upon the student’s return to school, they should bring any medical certificates or notes to the school office.
Late Arrivals to School
We understand that there can be various reasons for arriving late, including:
• Morning traffic or transportation issues
• Family commitments or unforeseen circumstances
• Medical appointments
• Difficulty in waking up or getting ready
If your child arrives after the 8:55am bell their name and time of arrival will be recorded by the staff member on the gate. If your child arrives after 9:05am, we kindly ask that you to provide a note from home explaining the reason for their lateness. Your child must come to the front office when they arrive at school. The arrival time will be recorded against their attendance, and they will be given a late pass to present to their teacher to inform of the lateness and verify that the class roll has been updated.
Early Departures from School
Similarly, the procedure for an early departure from school requires a note from home detailing the reason and time of their early exit this enables the office to process the leave prior to pick up of the students, therefore making the pickup more time efficient. This policy helps us to keep track of student whereabouts and ensures their safety throughout the school day. Students who leave early are required to be collected by an adult from the school office.
MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
Administering Medication
If your child needs to take medication at school, this needs to be administered under the supervision of a trained member of staff. Documentation must be completed, and medication needs to be provided in correct packs. This is then stored securely at school. This is the procedure regardless of the medication to be administered. Please contact the office to request the paperwork if this is required. If you have any questions or need further information about our administration procedures, please feel free to contact the school office.
EXCURSIONS
All excursions and activities are published on the Sentral Parent Portal. You will be asked to give permission by answering specific questions and then you will be asked to make payment after submitting your permission. If you are having difficulties proceeding to payment this could be because you have not marked off one of the questions in the permission section, if after revising you still cannot make the payment, please call the office, we are happy to help you with any questions you have regarding the Parent Portal.
If you do not wish to pay online you still need to give permission in the portal and then you can pay with cash or EFTPOS at the office.
Please note that if you do not want your child to attend any excursion or event, we request you still go online to permissions and enter NO in the question section.
If you do not have access to the Parent Portal, please contact the office and someone will help you register to gain access. Having access to the Parent Portal gives you all the information you need to stay on top of what's happening at school and the ability to make payments and give permission for events without having to send notes and cash with your child to school. The Parent Portal also gives access to our online uniform shop.
If you have any enquiries that you need answered big or small, please feel free to contact the office via phone (96078710) or email (greenvally-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au).
Winter Uniform and Lost property items
As we transition into the cooler months, it is expected students wear winter uniform from the first day of Term 2, we want to remind everyone of the importance of keeping our students warm and comfortable during school hours. Here are a few key points to consider:
Dress for the Weather: As temperatures drop, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately in full school uniform for the cooler weather. Layering is a great way to keep warm. Consider sending your child with the school jacket over their school jumper.
Labelling Clothing: To help us manage lost items, we kindly ask that you label all your child’s clothing with their name. This includes jackets, jumpers, and hats. Clearly labelling items will make it easier for us to return lost clothing to its rightful owner and helps your child keep track of their belongings.
Lost Property Location: If you or your child need to locate lost items of clothing or lunchboxes and drink bottles, there is a lost property station under the awning between the bubblers and the disabled toilet, you can access this area before and after school and during school assembly times.
Encourage Responsibility: Please remind your child to take care of their clothing and personal items. Encourage them to check that they have all their belongings before leaving any classroom or outdoor area.
Check out the Uniform page of this newsletter: The uniform page of this newsletter has all the information you require about uniform items, prices and how to purchase from the school. The school also offers financial assistance for uniforms and excursions, for more information contact the office.
Contacting the School via Email
In our ongoing effort to enhance communication within our school community, we would like to remind you of the importance and convenience of emailing the school (greenvally-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au) for any inquiries or concerns.
Email communication provides a direct and efficient way to connect with our staff, whether you have questions about your child’s progress, need clarification on school policies, or would like to speak directly with a school staff member.
