HPGE GROUPS

At Green Valley, our HPGE groups are designed to support students who show high potential and giftedness in various areas. These groups provide opportunities for students to participate in challenging and engaging activities that extend their learning, helping them reach their full potential.
Writing Groups 📝
The Stage 3 writing group is excited to participate in the What Matters Writing Competition, an opportunity for students to express their ideas and creativity on topics that are important to them. This competition encourages young writers to explore meaningful themes and develop their skills through thoughtful and engaging writing. We look forward to sharing our unique voices and essays with the wider community.
Stage 2 are currently working on creative writing by following a series of prompts to compose a short story. These prompts aim to focus on students' sentence structure, creative language techniques, new vocabulary, and writing about topics that may be out of their comfort zone. We can't wait to share some of these stories with you!
Mathematics Groups 🧮
This year at GVPS, we are running three mathematics extension groups:
Maths Olympiad: This is a Junior Division Maths Olympiad for high-achieving Year 5 and 6 students which allows individuals to ‘put their talent to the test’ and compete against other schools and students across Australia and New Zealand.
Maths Games: The Maths Games provides students in Year 5 and 6 with an opportunity to learn and develop valuable maths problem solving skills, while fostering an appreciation of maths and its application to the real-world.
Maths Explorer: Maths Explorer introduces mathematical problem-solving to primary students in Year 3 and 4. Adopting a fun, practical, approach that students can relate to, the program lays foundations for future learning and encourages collaboration.
