LIBRARY NEWS

  • This term in library our Kindergarten and Stage 1 students have been busy learning and revising the routines of borrowing each week. Every library session students leave excited and ready to start reading what they've borrowed, especially some of the all-time favourite titles such as the Andy Lee series of Do Not Open This Book, all of our Bluey picture books and of course, the cheeky canine Pig The Pug by Aaron Blabey.

  • Stage 1 have also been busy learning about one of Australia's most renowned authors, Mem Fox. They are learning how authors use characters that are likeable or dislikeable to help us engage with a story. They've been hard at work coming up with speech for a cunning fox to say that will turn him from the villian of the story into a friend.

  • Stage 2 students have also started well in the borrowing department. They've been focused on developing their research skills during library sessions as part of their studies in history and are expanding their knowledge of Australian symbols. Students have learnt lots of new things about the significance of symbols, what they mean, and how they represent our country.

  • Stage 3 students have demonstrated outstanding borrowing rates, with most students returning and borrowing each week. Well done Stage 3! During library sessions, students have embarked on an author study of Shaun Tan and have read a few of his fantastic books. Their focus is currently on the text, The Red Tree as students take one of Shaun Tan's writing techniques to create their own blackout poem. Sray tuned for the finished product!
