PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we approach the end of Term 1, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the achievements and activities that have taken place in our school community during this term. Our students have made remarkable strides in their learning. Teachers have been implementing innovative teaching strategies to engage students and support their academic growth. It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm in classrooms as students explore new concepts and develop their skills. During the past fortnight, our Year 3 and Year 5 students participated in NAPLAN which assesses the literacy and numeracy skills of our students and identifies future areas for improvement within the school.
This term, we have had a range of extracurricular activities, including a swimming carnival, NRL clinic, Leadership by the Cowpasture, Children's Parliament, and Stage 3 excursion to name a few. Next week we will acknowledge and celebrate ‘Harmony Week’ where we celebrated Australia’s cultural diversity. This initiative promotes inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everybody. The theme for Harmony Week 2026 is "Everyone Belongs” and we will celebrate GVPS's diversity and harmony with our annual Food Fair on Wednesday 25th March. We will also be holding a parent information session at 9am on the 25th March. More information about the information session and how to RSVP can be found on the Parent Portal.
As we move into Term Two, we will continue to focus on fostering a positive learning environment and supporting each student’s individual needs.
In staffing news, Miss Banh has been successful through a merit selection process of gaining a permanent Assistant Principal position at Merrylands East PS. We are incredibly excited for this next chapter for Miss Banh, however, she will be greatly missed.
As a result of Miss Banh leaving there are some staffing changes at GVPS.
- 1SB will continue to have Mrs Skocic Monday - Wednesday and will now have Mrs Ali on Thursday and Friday.
- Mrs Phan will move to the Stage 1 Assistant Principal role, but will continue to teacher 3PO on Monday and Tuesday.
- Miss Pauk will expand her Stage 2 Assistant Principal role to Monday - Friday and will continue to teacher 4PJ Monday - Wednesday.
- Mrs Iannuzzelli will move into the Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Instruction (APCI) role on Monday and Tuesday, and Mrs Keegan will expand her APCI role to Monday - Friday.
Eid Mubarak! Wishing our families celebrating this week a happy and peaceful Eid.
