Lots of smiles and productive work in the Trades area during week 7. Did you get snapped this week?

Our cameras were out and about, capturing the action in Trades, and there was no shortage of smiles as students showed off their projects. Take a look at the photos below and see if you were featured in this week’s action.

Trades Clothing Requirements – Friendly Reminder

This week, Mr Cantwell and I spent some time visiting the Trades workshops to check in on how students are progressing. During our walk-throughs, we noticed several shirts that were a little worse for wear: ripped fabric, missing buttons, cable ties used as button substitutes, and significant staining from paint, oil, or grease.

As outlined in the College Handbook, our uniform is designed to reflect workplace expectations, create a sense of belonging, and ensure the safety of students both on and off-site. For Trades specifically, students are expected to arrive at their workshops wearing the approved Trades uniform, worn neatly (tucked in) and in good repair.

The required Trades uniform includes:

  • Navy blue cargo long trousers.

  • Hi-Vis long-sleeved blue/yellow cotton shirt.

  • Drill jacket.

  • Black steel-capped work boots with black socks.

  • Overalls are also strongly recommended for use in the Trades area.

We kindly ask parents and students to take a moment to check whether any uniform items, particularly shirts and pants, they may need to be replaced to ensure they meet both school expectations and essential safety requirements.

A helpful tip: In “messier” environments such as Automotive or painting activities in Building and Construction, students may choose to keep a pair of overalls in their Trades bag. Overalls provide great protection and help keep the main uniform in good condition.

Thank you for your ongoing support in this matter.
