Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

As discussed in many newsletters, I am always blown away by the strong community connections at Woori Yallock P.S. and I just love this community. Walking around the kiss and drop or doing tours for perspective parents really is such a bucket filler for myself and Flick.

We will be running Parent Teacher interviews on the 11th and 12th March. This is a great chance to share information about your child and for you and your child’s teacher to get to know each other. Bookings will be made through Compass. I will also be available during most of this time, if you would like to pop in for a chat!  School Council will be up and running in a couple of weeks but we still have a parent vacancy if there is anyone that is interested. School Council does make significant contributions to our school and community.

The work of our School Council and in turn Parent Network, enables us to fulfil our obligations to the Department of Education in terms of governance and procedures as well as enriching and contributing to a variety of areas of school operations.

I am looking forward to our first School Council meeting in the next few weeks and meeting with our council members, Shelley Brown, Nicola Uren and Casey Runco.

COMING UP:

  • Parent Teacher Interviews 11th and 12th March, book through compass

  • NAPLAN starts on Wednesday March 12th for students in years 3 and 5

  • House Sports, Friday 21st March

  • District Athletics 3-6 students 28th March

SCHOOL LEADERS LEADERSHIP DAY IN THE CITY

A big thanks to Wandin Rotary, Sally Marshall, our School Chaplain and Ben Eaton for organising and the leadership day.

Below is a summary by Jacob, one of our grade six students that went on the day.

On Monday all of our leaders caught a train at 7:15am to go to the city to learn about leadership from people who have a lot of experience leading people.  The people who spoke were Majak Daw, Thomas Duncan Watt, Emma McKeon and Catherine Laga'aia. What we learnt was how to overcome out fears and how to be a good leader. It as a great day that I felt lucky to be a part of.

Reading with a parent is so important to a child’s development and is a fun thing to do before bed. This weeks staff reading stars are: Rachael Cantwell reading with Eden, Carol reading with her grandson Theo and Bonnie and Bowie along with Miss Young's Baby Colson & Tim. Remember, I plan on publishing a few of these each week. If you would like to be in the newsletter please send me photo of yourself reading with your children and I will publish them.
