Caritas - Project Compassion

During Lent at COHR we focus on the work of Caritas, through our Project Compassion boxes, Zooper Dooper Tuesday, Harmony Day and Caritas Day. Also through our prayers and class RE Programs learning about the work of Caritas.
As the Catholic Church's international aid and development agency, Caritas Australia works hand in hand with the most marginalised communities in Australia and overseas, to confront the challenges of poverty.
Through locally-led programs, we work with all people, with shared hope and compassion, towards a world where all can thrive and reach their full potential. Through partnerships with local organisations and Church networks, and as a member of Caritas Internationalis, one of the largest humanitarian networks in the world, we are able to reach where the need is greatest and work together for a just future.
Working together for justice and dignity. Building together a thriving future for all.
Project Compassion Boxes & Caritas Day
Last week Project Compassion boxes were sent home with every child. Project Compassion is a Caritas fundraising initiative. We ask you to place your Project Compassion box somewhere prominent in your home and encourage you to contribute what you can, ask your children to contribute and any visitors too. On Caritas Day, Wednesday 23rd April, students are asked to return their Project Compassion boxes, donate a gold coin and wear casual clothes. This day is the final Caritas event at COHR for 2025.
Harmony Day
We celebrate Harmony Day at COHR, focussing on the world through Caritas. Tomorrow, students are invited to wear casual clothes with a touch of orange, donate a gold coin to Caritas and have a free orange or yellow Zooper Dooper (these are the flavours we always have left over on Zooper Dooper Tuesday!)
Parents are invited to harmoniously join us for a coffee at Assembly. There will be an opportunity to donate at the Coffee Cart to Caritas.
Zooper Dooper Tuesday
We have only two Zooper Dooper Tuesdays left! Thanks so much to our Mini Vinnies Student Team who have been selling, cutting off the tops and organising Zooper Dooper Tuesday.
COHR is always such a generous community, that shares their many blessings with others. Our Caritas and Project Compassion actions are living proof of both this generosity and of our faith in action. Thank you for all you have contributed.
Take care and find time to pause and pray,
Jo Cowan
