International Women's Day

On the 7th of March, our school hosted a special morning tea for International Women’s Day, and we had the incredible opportunity to meet the Premier of Victoria, Jacinta Allan.

A group of approximately 20 female students was selected to sit with her in a once-in-a-lifetime experience. She was super open with us, and we had the opportunity to ask her some interesting questions.

These questions included what got her into politics, what footy team she barracks for, and what the biggest misconception the media has about her. She also shared the best and worst parts of her job, giving us a real insight into what it's like being the Premier.

One of the things that stood out was how she spoke about being compared to others and how she handles that pressure.

It was really inspiring to hear how she stays focused on what’s important despite all the challenges. She also talked about the importance of women in leadership and how she hopes to inspire more young women to get involved not just in politics, but in whatever workplace they aspire to be in.

Overall, it was a valuable and inspiring experience, providing us with the opportunity to engage with a prominent leader and gain insight into the challenges and responsibilities of her role.

DCPS leadership day.

On March 5th, we had grade 5 and 6 students from Diamond Creek Primary School visit our school. While they were here, they were able to get a taste of what high school is like. They were also able to learn some new skills in science, technology and physical education. Overall, it was a really great day and hopefully made them feel more comfortable going into high school.

HPS

On Monday the 12th August I went with a group of friends to Hurstbridge Primary School to run a footy clinic for the Grade 4 and 5 students. We were split into four different groups, where we taught the Primary School students' different aspects of footy, such as tackling, kicking, marking and handballing. The students really enjoyed the morning and were lots of fun to work with. I also really enjoyed it and had a great day. Thank you to Christina for coming as the coach and Kelly and Sue for driving us.
