Term 1 Sport

Term 1 is notoriously busy with sports days as we hold our House Carnival for Swimming as (as well as Division and Region Swimming) as well as House Athletics and Interschool Sport starting up.

Dates of Importance

  • Tuesday 18th March – DVC House Athletics Carnival (Box Hill Athletics Track)
  • Thursday 20th March – Senior Regional Round Robin – Baseball & Girls Tennis
  • Tuesday 25thth March – Year 7 Sport Round Robin (Baseball/Softball, Tennis, Volleyball)
  • Thursday 27th March - Northern Metropolitan Regional Swimming Finals

Athletics Carnival 2025 -

On Tuesday 18th March all students and staff will be heading to Box Hill Athletics Club for the house athletics carnival.

The DVC House “Aths” Carnival allows students to compete in age group track and field events, as well as some novelty events for those that would prefer. Participation is the main focus where students will earn points that accumulate for their allocated house.

On the serious side, students who win or perform at the appropriate level will advance to the Division athletics carnival (Nillumbik/ Banyule) on Thursday 8th May. This year we are hoping to continue the success we have had across the past few years.

In addition to the athletic events there are quite a few other activities for the students and staff to get involved in such as our fashions on the field, face painting, dance off’s, grass games or the Chillax zone where students can spend time with their friends.

There are 4 houses: Wilson (yellow/gold), Hubbard (red), Bass (green) and Peers (blue). We encourage students and staff to dress up in their house colours. Each student can see which house they are in by logging on to their Compass page and clicking on their name.

This is a whole school event where all students and teaching staff are required to attend. It’s an enjoyable day and a great way for us all to have some fun, get to know each other a bit better and develop our school culture.

This year we are holding our event at Box Hill Athletics Track (Hagenauer Reserve) - a venue we are returning to after a few years. There will be a canteen running on the day, so students can bring money along if they would like. We would still recommend ensuring students have lunch/snacks and water for the day.

Finally, Each student requires consent to be off school grounds. This can be done online through your Compass account.  If you have any questions regarding consent or payment, please contact the General Office on 9438 1411.

Can’t wait to see everyone there!!

Interschool Sport - Congratulations to our teams!

Congratulations to everyone that went out to represent the college over the last 2 weeks in volleyball, tennis, basketball and cricket. It was fantastic to see such great competition and good spirits!

Special mention to the Year 7 Girls cricket team and Senior Baseball teams that won their Round Robins and were crowned District Champions overcoming strong teams from Eltham, St Helena and Montmorency. Our Senior Girls tennis team also progresses to the Northern Metropolitan Regional Round Robin.

Dates for these NMR days in term 1 are listed, however for our Year 7 cricketers it will be a little bit of a wait as the cricket grounds turn to football grounds for the winter. They will compete in October. Teams now have the chance to progress to the State Finals if they have another successful day!

Good Luck to our Year 7’s that head out in the next few weeks to compete!

SWIMMING CARNIVAL & DIVISION WRAP UP

SWIMMING CARNIVAL REVIEW!!

This year we started DVC sport with the annual House Swimming Carnival. The day was a hit with so many students and teachers getting involved. Here are some of the many highlights from throughout the day!

  • We had some amazing results at the carnival with RECORDS BROKEN and huge participation across the day.
  • Thank you to everyone who jumped in the water or participated in any of the dry or extra activities as this is what the day is all about! The waterslide was very busy all day and the bombing comp went Manu!
  • Congratulations to all students who won a ribbon in their event. You should be very proud of yourself!
  • The staff won the Staff vs Student relay was back to the 4x4 competitor format and it was Staff that took that event out!
  • I would also love to say a huge thank you to everyone, especially the year 12's, who dressed up in costumes or house colours, making the day even bigger and brighter! A few of our year 12’s - Sienna Beddoe, Maggie Spriggs, Maya Watson and Jasper Young will be sorely missed!!

And of course, the house shield! Congratulations to Bass (Green house) for going back-to-back and winning the shield for 2025! Congratulations team Bass.

SWIMMING DISTRICT FINALS

Congratulations to the 2025 Diamond Valley Swim Team that represented College at the Nillumbik & Banyule Swimming Finals. We had a lot of success on the day with both individual and team placings. There was some phenomenal swimming on the day across all age groups and we are grateful for the students giving their all on the day.

Extra Special Mention to Ruby Moore, Maggie Spriggs, Sienna Beddoe, Maya Watson (Record Breaking Senior Girls Relay Team!), Kye Sadowy, Mia Hurst & Charlotte Smith. They will all progress through to the Regional Finals on March 27th, with the hope of gaining a place in the State Championships.
