Senior School Update – A Strong Start to the Year
The Senior School at Diamond Valley College has had an exciting and productive start to the year, with students settling into their routines and embracing the challenges of senior studies.
Year 11 – Embracing Responsibility
Our Year 11 students have stepped into their senior school journey with enthusiasm and maturity. From day one, they have demonstrated a strong commitment to their learning by:✔ Successfully transitioning into the Senior School and their VCE programs✔ Engaging actively with new challenges in the classroom✔ Displaying focus, resilience, and leadership around the school
This positive attitude sets a strong foundation for a successful year ahead!
Year 12 – Setting Goals for Success
Our Year 12 students kicked off their final year with a three-day retreat at Camp Wilkin in Anglesea. This camp was an opportunity to reflect on their goals, plan for the year ahead, and gain valuable insights from guest speakers.
A highlight of the retreat was hearing from Scott B. Harris, a true inspiration who shared his journey of overcoming adversity. Scott’s message focused on four key areas to build resilience and achieve success:🔹 Choices – Taking responsibility🔹 Mindset – Developing a positive outlook🔹 Goals – Navigating life with purpose🔹 Perseverance – Keeping going despite challenges.
In addition to these powerful life lessons, students also enjoyed surfing, high ropes, archery, and team-building activities, strengthening friendships and creating lasting memories.
Vocational Major Program – Hands-On Learning
Students in the Vocational Major Program have hit the ground running, starting their TAFE courses and structured workplace learning. In the coming weeks, they will also take part in exciting real-world experiences, including visits to Australian Grand Prix and the Nillumbik Health Hub.
SACs – Preparing for Success
School-Assessed Coursework (SACs) have begun in several subjects. To help students perform at their best, we encourage:📌 Preparation – Avoid cramming the night before📌 Support – Ask teachers for guidance and visit the VCE Study Centre📌 Study Sessions – Speak to Jacqui about voluntary lunchtime study groups📌 Well-being – Get a good night’s sleep before assessments
If a student is unwell and unable to attend a SAC, a medical certificate must be provided to the Senior Sub-School.
New! Monday After-School Study Hall
Starts Monday, 17th March | Time: 3:15 pm – 4:25 pm | Location: VCE Study Centre
To support our students’ academic success, we are introducing a Monday Study Hall—a structured, quiet space where students can study and seek help from volunteering VCE teachers. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop strong study habits and receive extra support.
We look forward to seeing students make the most of these opportunities!
