Principal's Message

Mr Bill Innes | Interim Principal

Greetings, Parents and Friends of The King’s College,

Term One has flown by, and here we are in the Easter season of 2025.  It is my prayer that you will find meaning beyond chocolate eggs in the Passion story of Christ’s death and resurrection and the Hope that He offers humanity.

Interim Secondary Reports

May I encourage you to make time to sit with your child/ren and work through their Interim Reports this holiday? Probably the most valuable thing that you can do, is to assist them to use their interim reports to recalibrate and set specific goals for Term Two.

Secondary Assembly

Last week, we celebrated the achievements of our Secondary Students across the full spectrum of College activities at our Secondary Assembly. My congratulations and respect go to all awardees and my encouragement, to all of our aspiring students.

During my address at the Assembly, I asked our students to reflect on the question, “Where do you find your Truth?”.  I am concerned that many of our students turn to social media platforms to find a version of ‘truth,’ but that very often, the ‘truth’ they find on these social media platforms is a distorted truth upon which they cannot rely.  (Apart from the fact that if they are under the age of sixteen, they shouldn’t be on these social media platforms anyway!)

On a similar subject, just prior to the Assembly, it was brought to my attention that we have a significant number of students who are using social media platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat, just to mention a few, to create pages that mock, ridicule and bully fellow students and, in some cases, respected staff members!

Therefore, following the assembly, Mrs Servina and I addressed the students, and I made it very clear that any student found guilty of this practice will face expulsion.

Mrs Servina gave the students a moratorium of twenty-four hours in which to remove any such posts that they may have created and, equally importantly, to stop following any such pages.  Given the serious and, unfortunately, sometimes fatal implications of this kind of cowardly bullying, the College will not hesitate to act in any future cases that come to our attention. This includes students who fail to heed our warning and leave historical, inappropriate material online.

I appeal to you to discuss this with your children, as appropriate, and ensure that they take the necessary action to avoid any future consequences.

In closing, it only remains for me to wish you a blessed Easter and a safe, happy holiday season.  We look forward to welcoming your children back to Term Two and all the excitement and activity that lies ahead for them!
