Deputy Principals Mrs Diakrousis & Mr Speranza

Dear Families,
Last week we had a successful School Clean Up Day led by our Sustainability Leaders. A reminder that we have also commenced a battery disposal program as part of our sustainability program, so if you have any obsolete batteries at home please feel free to drop them into us, as these should not be disposed of in home landfill bins.
This week the annual NAPLAN assessments commenced for Year 3 and Year 5. Students have been completing the Writing, Reading and Language assessments. The Numeracy assessment will be administered next week. Further information is attached below.
Next week we are looking forward to celebrating St Patrick’s Day and our annual Festival. A reminder that school photos are also next week. Please refer to the Principal page for all information.
Regards,
Joelle Diakrousis, Deputy Principal / Learning Diversity Leader
Anthony Speranza, Deputy Principal / Learning & Teaching Leader

Battery Recycling Program
Did you know that batteries contain harmful chemicals that can damage the environment if not disposed of properly? At St. Patrick’s, we are committed to sustainability and have a battery recycling program to help reduce waste and protect our planet.
We encourage all families to bring in used batteries and drop them off in our designated recycling bin in the front office.
Please remember: Button batteries are extremely dangerous for children—keep them out of reach and ensure they are safely stored before recycling.
Let’s work together to create a cleaner, safer future!
Random Acts of Kindness
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the following students for their outstanding display of kindness and compassion towards others. Your willingness to support, encourage, and uplift those around you has set a wonderful example for our entire school community. It’s incredibly inspiring to see students across different year levels go out of their way to make others feel valued, included, and respected.Your acts of kindness—whether through small gestures or significant efforts—are powerful reminders of the positive impact we can all have. Thank you for embodying the values that make our school a welcoming and caring place for everyone. Keep up the amazing work!

NAPLAN Assessments commencing Wednesday 12th March
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake.
Please see the attached PDF brochure for parents and carers.
As students progress through their school years, it is important to check how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy.
NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national proficiency standards.
NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress.
NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy.
