Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
Next week, we will be celebrating St. Patrick! We will begin the week with a liturgy in the hall on Monday afternoon, as St. Patrick's Feast Day falls on Monday, March 17th. All students are required to wear their regular school uniform on this day; however, they may wear 'a touch of green' to acknowledge St. Patrick.
On Friday, March 21st, we will have our St. Patrick's Festival Day/Evening, and all students are welcome to come to school dressed up in their best St. Patrick's or Irish-themed attire.
The festival will begin at 4:00 PM (after afternoon pick-up) and will conclude at 8:00 PM.
We have an exciting lineup of rides and activities for all ages to enjoy!
Wristbands can be pre-purchased before the event—great value for our adventure seekers! TryBooking link for wristbands: https://www.trybooking.com/CZJOV.
Live every student’s dream and visit the dunking machine at St. Pat’s Festival on Friday, March 21st! Who will be the lucky student to dunk the PRINCIPAL at the end of assembly (3:15 PM) in front of the whole school?! The lucky student will be selected at assembly this Friday 14th March!
Whole School Photos
Next Wednesday, 19th March, we will be taking class and individual student photos. All students must wear their full summer uniform on this day—no jumpers.
Students with Physical Education lessons on this day may bring their sports shoes in their school bag and change their shoes after their photos have been taken.
Students with long hair may wear it down for the photos and tie it up afterwards.
Staff Conference
My thanks to all staff members for their participation in the Annual Staff conference last week. It was a fantastic time away for all staff to spend together reflecting, praying and exploring the Melbourne Archdiocese Vision for Instruction.
Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday
A very big thank you to our amazing P & F for preparing Pancakes for our students last Tuesday. The students and staff very much appreciated the special treat.
Thank you to Mrs Ady for preparing the Ash Wednesday Mass for our students and thank you to our new assistant Priest - Fr. Joseph Nguyen who was our celebrant on the day.
St. Kilda Players' Visit
On Thursday last week the St. Kilda Football club visited the Year 6 students in the school hall. I was very impressed with the quality of questions our students asked of the players. Special thanks to the St. Kilda football club for making the players available to visit us.
Sibling - Prep 2026 Enrolments and Open Days
Can I please remind all Families who will have a Prep Student in 2026 to submit their enrolment paperwork ASAP. Sibling enrolment interviews will occur at the end of Term 1.
Please check our enrolment timeline below.
Congratulations to all of our Year 6 students who have been tour guides for our Open Day visitors! We have received many compliments on their professionalism and the excellent tours they have conducted. Our last official Open Day is on Wednesday, March 26th.
Planning Week - Week 9
In Week 9 of this term we are streamlining our specialist program so the classroom teachers can receive a full day of uninterrupted planning in preparation for Term 2. Mr Speranza will also be working with the class teachers in his capacity as Learning and Teaching Leader to assist with planning.
This means all students will have their 6 x 45 minute specialist classes across one day (STEM, eLearning, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Italian and Physical Education).
The specialist timetable for Week 9 will look as follows:
Tuesday - Year 1 & Year 2
Wednesday - Year 3 & Year 4
Thursday - Year 5 & Year 6
Friday - Prep
Students are to wear their sports uniform on their specialist day for this week.
AFLW visit
Today the Hawthorn AFLW players and St. Bede's Mentone Tigers players conducted a clinic for our Year 5 & 6 girls. A huge thanks to Bryan McDonnell for organinsing this special event for our students, it was a lot of fun!
