Student Leaders’ Update

This term at COHR, we have been focusing on our school theme: Anchored in Hope. This theme reminds us to stay strong, have faith in each other and in God, and to look to the future with open hearts and minds.

"May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in Him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit." – Romans 15:13

This scripture reassures us that God always watches over us, so we never have to feel alone. He strengthens and protects us, and together in faith, we walk in hope and unity.

One of the important initiatives introduced this term was the Child Safety Student Voice. As one of our key school expectations is Be Safe, this initiative gives students valuable insight into how they are kept safe at school and how they can help keep themselves and others safe.

To support this, we presented a slideshow to each class, explaining the importance of child safety protocols at COHR. These sessions encouraged interactive discussions, making it a meaningful experience for both students and staff. Through these conversations, students developed a deeper understanding that safety goes beyond physical well-being—it also includes feeling a sense of belonging. We outlined ways to stay safe in the playground and classrooms, and we are pleased that every student has expanded their knowledge of safety at COHR.

Looking ahead, we are excited for the Colour Run in October! Students always look forward to this event, where they get to wear white, run through obstacles and be showered in colourful powder. The Colour Run is a fantastic way to energise our students, raise money for our school, win great prizes and, most importantly, have lots of fun!

We’re also eagerly anticipating the School Concert in Term 3. This is a wonderful opportunity for every student to shine and showcase their talents. The concert is always a highlight of the year, and we can't wait for an amazing night of fun and celebration!

For our Year 6 students, an important milestone is coming up—Confirmation at St Patrick's Cathedral in August. This will be a significant moment in their faith journey, strengthening their relationship with God as they receive the Holy Spirit, guiding them toward a bright future.

It’s been a fantastic start to the year, and we are looking forward to all the exciting things still to come!
