Time flies when you're hard at work and here we are at the end of Week 7 already! The Trades workshops continue to be as fast paced as ever and it’s inspiring to see the dedication and enthusiasm our students bring to their projects.
Building and Construction – Studio Progress and Concrete Preparations
Our construction students have made significant strides in the small studio build. Declan showcased his growing carpentry skills by installing battens in preparation for cladding—a crucial step toward weatherproofing the structure.
Furnishings – Crafting Hardwood Coffee Tables
In the Furnishings workshop, students continue to channel their creativity into crafting hardwood coffee tables. This week’s focus was on joinery, sanding and assembly. The attention to detail and craftsmanship displayed are commendable, reflecting the students’ commitment to producing high-quality pieces.
Several students have been carefully ensuring their work is perfectly square an essential skill in fine furniture making. Projects like these not only enhance technical skills but also instil a deep appreciation for the art of furniture craftsmanship as well as having an amazing final project to take home.
Metals – Advancing Welding Techniques
Our Metals students continue to hone their TIG and MIG welding skills, demonstrating noticeable improvements in technique and confidence. Mr Truss ensures each session presents new challenges and learning opportunities, reinforcing the importance of precision and safety in metal fabrication.
