Term 2 Whole School Assembly: Celebrating Community, Opportunity, and Achievement

Our Whole School Assembly on Wednesday provided a wonderful opportunity for students and staff from K-12 to come together to showcase and celebrate the many ways our students learn, grow, and contribute.

These assemblies are an important part of the life of our school. They allow us to pause, reflect, and recognise the diverse range of experiences that shape our students’ journeys. From academic pursuits and competitions to musical expression, service-learning activities, STEM innovation opportunities and Co-Curricular programs, our assemblies highlight the richness of opportunities available to every learner.

The morning began with a vibrant display of student creativity, as we were welcomed into the Multi-Purpose Stadium to the backdrop of remixed music tracks produced by our Year 8 Music Technology students. Their work showcased the innovative ways students can demonstrate their learning.

A particularly special moment for our community was the official introduction of our new Nord Grand Piano. This instrument opens doors for creativity, performance, and future musical growth. We extend our sincere thanks to the Moama Bowling Club for their generous support, which will have a lasting impact on our music program and students for years to come.

Our assembly also reflected the values that underpin our community. Through our Bible reading and prayer, we were reminded of the importance of compassion, service and care for others, values that are lived out through both everyday actions and larger initiatives, such as our upcoming service experiences.

Throughout the assembly, students from across the school shared examples of their learning and achievements, highlighting the breadth of opportunities available, such as…

  • Debating students demonstrated their engagement with complex, real-world issues, developing critical thinking, teamwork, and confident communication as they prepare for the upcoming Apex Interschool Debating competition.
  • Our Young Performers Concert was celebrated and student musical growth and achievement were recognised. With over 60 students performing, the event reflected both emerging talent and the outcome of hours of dedicated practice from our aspiring musicians.
  • A stunning live vocal performance of the track Defying Gravity (from Wicked the Musical) was performed by one of our young singers.
  • In STEM education, students shared their experiences in the Formula 1 (F1) in Schools program, applying scientific concepts through hands-on design, testing, and innovation.
  • Our Year 10 Commerce Exhibition highlighted entrepreneurial thinking and social awareness, as students developed business concepts aligned with global challenges, including sustainability and social justice.
  • The growing success of our Mountain Bike Squad demonstrated the importance of Co-Curricular sport, with students embracing challenge, teamwork and resilience while achieving strong results in an interschool competition.

Each of these moments tells a broader story: our students are not limited to one pathway. Instead, they are encouraged to explore, discover, and develop their unique strengths across a wide range of disciplines.

Assemblies like this remind us of our shared purpose: to nurture capable, compassionate, and confident young people who are ready to contribute meaningfully to the world around them. They also reinforce the importance of connection: coming together to celebrate one another, to be inspired, and to recognise the many ways we each belong.

We look forward to continuing this tradition throughout the year, as we celebrate achievements, acknowledge holistic growth, and embrace the many opportunities that make our school community a unique and exciting place to be – whilst lifting aspiration in the process.

Kind regards,

Mr Scott Downward
