Principal's Report

Welcome to the Final Newsletter for Term 2
Personally, I am pleased that the shortest day of the year has now passed. As the days gradually grow longer and a little brighter, it feels like a fitting time to reflect on what has been another busy and rewarding term at BNPS.
One of the things that continually impresses me about our school is the incredible strength of our parent community. It seems only yesterday that we were celebrating the enormous success of the school fete, and already our Parents and Friends Association has turned its attention to next term's Disco.
This will be my first BNPS Disco, and I cannot wait to experience another event that brings our community together. Thank you to our P&F volunteers for the energy, enthusiasm and countless hours they invest in creating opportunities for our students and families.
It has also been wonderful to welcome so many new Prep families into our community this year. One of my favourite sights is when parents are still chatting together after drop-off while younger siblings enjoy playing in our grounds.
Our core business is learning, but it is also so much more than that; schools are places where friendships are formed, connections are strengthened, and communities are built. It is lovely to see that happening every day at BNPS.
Our lunchtime clubs have been another highlight of the semester. Thank you to the teachers who generously elected to run these activities. Students regularly ask when their clubs are running because they are so eager not to miss out. We look forward to introducing some new opportunities in Semester 2. A particular highlight has been our 3D printing club. I would like to acknowledge that the 3D printer was a gift from the Class of 2025. What a wonderful legacy for those students to leave for future generations of BNPS learners.
You may have noticed students helping empty classrooms in Years 3–6 as we prepare for the arrival of new furniture. These upgrades have been made possible through the success of the school fete. We are excited to create refreshed learning spaces that students can enjoy for many years to come.
Looking ahead, I am particularly excited about the next phase of our staff professional learning journey. During Semester 2, schools from across our network will visit BNPS to observe learning in our classrooms, just as some of our staff have already visited other schools. This reciprocal learning is a powerful way to strengthen practice across the education system. By opening our doors, sharing our work and learning from one another, we contribute to a collective effort to ensure every child receives the best possible education.
This year, we have welcomed many new families who have quickly become part of the rich fabric of our school community. At the same time, we will sadly farewell several long-standing families who are moving away. To those families, thank you. You have contributed enormously to the life of BNPS, and our community is richer for having known you. You will be greatly missed, and we wish you every happiness in your next chapter.
Our library has also received a wonderful collection of new books. A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who came to school on Wednesday to cover and prepare these books so they can finally make their way onto the shelves. We have had many of these titles waiting for some time but simply lacked the people-power to get them ready for borrowing.
It is yet another reminder that it truly takes a village to provide our children with the opportunities they deserve.
That same spirit of collaboration was on full display at the Arts Festival last week. Fittingly, the theme of the festival was 'It Takes a Village to Raise a Child'. Families who attended would have seen extraordinary creativity, talent and teamwork showcased across Beaumaris North Primary School, Black Rock Primary School, Beaumaris Primary School and Beaumaris Secondary College.
The artwork was stunning, the performances were exceptional, and the event highlighted what is possible when schools work together. My sincere thanks to Arla Anderson and Sheridan Duffy-Fanu for their leadership and dedication in creating such authentic and inspiring opportunities for our students. Congratulations to every student who participated. We are incredibly proud of you.
Public Reporting Meeting
Beaumaris North Primary School Council’s public reporting meeting will be held online on Wednesday 22 July at 6:00pm.
A school council must call a public reporting meeting at least once each year, and:
report the proceedings of the council since the date of the previous public meeting
present the endorsed Annual Report to the meeting, and
if the school council accounts have been audited, present a copy of the audited accounts.
Please keep an eye out on Compass in Week 1 of Term 3 for the Webex link.
As the term comes to a close, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for a wonderful 10-weeks. Everyone has worked hard, embraced challenges, and continued to grow. There is much to celebrate and much to be proud of.
I wish all members of our community a safe, restful and enjoyable winter break. Take the opportunity to recharge, spend time with family and friends, and reflect on all that has been achieved this semester. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term ahead.
Warm regards,
Julia Stoppa
Principal
