Sr Monica visits Year 2
Year 2 had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Sister Monica this morning for a special conversation about her life as a Presentation Sister.
She shared wonderful memories with the students, including stories from her time in Papua New Guinea, where she served as a missionary working with remote highlands communities.
Sr Monica also brought along a collection of fascinating artefacts, and some students even had the chance to try them on. It was a beautiful opportunity for Year 2 to gain insight into her life of teaching, service and generosity.
This special encounter forms part of the Presentation Sisters Legacy Art Project, with students beginning their portrait work in the coming weeks. We cannot wait to see their artistic interpretations of such a remarkable woman.
Bollywood beats take over the Junior School
Bollywood dance fever swept through the Junior School recently, and our Year 6 students embraced the rhythm, colour and culture of India during a workshop with Rhythmz Bollywood.
Our Year 6s enthusiastically threw themselves into learning dynamic choreography, exploring the cultural meaning behind each movement and mastering a short routine that had the whole Nagle Centre buzzing with energy.
The workshop was a lively extension of their HaSS unit on Connections to Asia, giving students a joyful, hands‑on way to explore the strong links between Australia and Asia while bringing their classroom learning to life.
All aboard for Hobart adventures | Year 2 excursion
Year 2 students swapped the classroom for a bright red double‑decker bus last week as they embarked on the ultimate sightseeing adventure through Hobart’s historic landmarks.
Their journey took them to Cascade Gardens, where the excitement peaked with a rare platypus sighting, before rolling on through Salamanca and Battery Point, across the Tasman Bridge and up to Rosny Hill Lookout.
The final stop at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens gave students the chance to stretch their legs, explore the trees and leaves, and enjoy some well‑earned playtime before heading back to school.
It was a fantastic way to consolidate their learning in the HaSSPlaces and Spaces unit. What a fun adventure!
