District Swimming

Congratulations to the students who took on a challenge and competed in District Swimming last week at Tintern Grammar. Students had a great time cheering each other on from the side of the pool.

It was particularly impressive to see the way our students were willing to participate in relays, even in older age groups, to ensure everyone was able to have a go.

Congratulations to Angelique who took 2nd place in breaststroke, Jack for a 2nd place finish in backstroke and a big congratulations to Tilly who came 1st in butterfly and will progress through to the next stage of competition.

Grade 5/6 Interschool Sport  - Gala Day 1

Last Friday the Grade 5/6 students competed in their first Inter School Sport Gala Day.

At the start of the year, each student was placed in a team through a trial process, where Grade 6 students get priority. Several students were placed in sports they had never played before. They have been learning the skills and rules of these sports with their coaches every Friday morning.

On the day itself, there were a lot of nerves and loads of excitement, but overall, our students seemed to really enjoy the experience. For some students, it was their first time playing a game in a competitive format outside of Kalinda. It was great to see the students playing together as a Kalinda team and connecting with students from other schools.

As a school, we really pride ourselves on being respectful to our teammates, opposition and umpires when playing sport, and this was most definitely shown on the day in true Kalinda spirit.

All our Kalinda teams performed well and will now be placed in either a final or consolation pool for Gala Day 2. Gala Day 2 will be held next Tuesday the 12th of March. After this day we will find out if any of our Kalinda sporting teams are successful in progressing to the next level of competition.

We wish all our teams the best of luck.

Also, a very big thank-you to our parents, grandparents, and Steve Toohey from Warranwood Cricket Club who assisted and managed a team on the day. We wouldn’t be able to field as many teams as we do in the Inter School Sports competition if it wasn’t for those who offer to help, so thank you again.
