THE JAPANESE WORD OF THE FORTNIGHT

きぶん (pronounced ‘kibun’) which means ‘feeling’ is the Japanese Word for Week 7 and 8 of Term 1. きぶん(‘kibun’) means ‘feeling’.  You can use ‘きぶん’ (‘kibun’) with another word (an adjective) afterwards to describe your feeling.  For example, if you want to say ‘feeling good’, you say きぶんいいです (‘kibun iides’). As you’d remember from the last two weeks, いいです (‘iides’) means ‘good’.

Thank you / ありがとうございます(pronounced ‘aligatoh gozaimas’) for your continuing support for our Japanese program.

GRADE 2 - IMAX & MELBOURNE MUSEUM

The Grade 2 classes went to IMAX and Melbourne Museum because we are learning about the continent of Africa. First, we went to Bugs Alive. There are lots of bugs over there!  We even saw a hairy legged spider it was so scary!  Then we saw some dinosaur fossils and some information about dinosaurs.

Next we went to IMAX and watched a  3D movie about Africa! but we didn't get popcorn. After that, we went to Melbourne Story and we looked at some royal things like Queen Elizabeth and historical things.

FUTURE WASTE, GREENER GLEN EIRA

Glen Eira City Council is doing a community-wide consultation on waste services. This includes understanding our community’s values and preferences to inform future thinking around waste, and how to reduce and dispose of it.

Recycling and waste services are one of the many ways we help maintain Glen Eira’s livability. Tens of thousands of residents, traders and businesses access them daily. Waste services include residential kerbside waste collections, booked hard rubbish collections and bin collections in our public open spaces like parks and activity centres.

We are reviewing our waste services because as well as planning for a separate glass recycling service to be delivered by 2027, some of our municipal waste service contracts are being reviewed in 2024. So, as part of this planning, we have a major opportunity to inform how we manage our waste more responsibly and sustainably.

To get this right, we’re putting our community at the centre of future planning. Join in, learn more, share ideas and play your part in our greener, more sustainable future.
