Student Leadership Convention Report

By Saskia & Gabs

On Monday the 12th of Feb, some students from BNWPS were selected to attend a Leadership Conference in the city. We got to school bright and early and caught the tram into the city. We were heading through the city on the tram when an electrical cord smelt funny and we had to hike the rest of the way… bad start!

When we walked in there was a huge room filled with thousands of students from other schools, and such a big stage. The hosts of the day talked about strengths, sacrifices, and how to be a good leader. We played so many different games including, ‘Is it Cake?’, Quizzes and had our very own booklet that we filled in. In the end, we got to do a Q&A. One person from each school got to get up in front of everyone and ask a question to the hosts. From our school, Gabs asked, ‘When you were a kid, were you a leader? If so, what did you lead?’

We had so much fun and learned a lot! I think the main thing I took away from the day was that leading isn’t just telling people what to do, but it is a give-and-take situation where everyone needs to compromise to get the job done.
