Prep Parent Maths Workshop

Last Tuesday approximately 40 prep parents gathered in the 5 / 6 shared space to learn more about Maths learning in Prep. 

The workshop outlined some of the ways in which we can help promote number sense in the early years of school, using some of the resources in the Maths Packs provided.  It was a great opportunity for parents and teachers to build partnerships so that we can work together for the benefit of our children.

Meanwhile in Year 1 and 2

The Year 1s and 2s have been busy exploring ‘Counting Collections’.  This routine requires children to sort their collection of items in a way that would make it easy for them (and others) to count.  This encourages them to think of more efficient ways of counting and is the beginning of multiplicative thinking and counting.
