18/03/2024 Recipient was absent. Will be revealed when they return.

Over the past 4 weeks we have been working on Information Texts. We have looked at the difference between facts and opinions and ensuring that our information is factual.  We have worked on writing an introduction by asking a question, writing a fact or writing a description. The class then chose their own topic, planned their introduction, 3 facts about their topic and a conclusion. Each student then wrote a draft. Students used WOW words (descriptive) along with the pebble, rock, boulder strategy. We’re all super proud of our information texts – well done year ¾’s!

Blue Jay Birds - By Jett

Did you know the crest of a Blue Jay looks like a tiny birthday hat? They are songbirds and are well known for singing.

The Blue Jay birds are omnivores. They eat grains, seeds and insects including beetles, grasshoppers and caterpillars.

Their habitat ranges from the pine woods of Florida to the fir forests of Northern Ontario. Blue Jays live within small family groups. If they migrate the whole group travels with them.

They are intelligent like ravens and crows. They are capable at picking up on human speech. The Blue Jay can make a sound like a Hawk.

I hope that you like the Blue Jay just as much as me. I hope you learnt something new.
