Term 1 Coding at DPS

This term our students were fortunate to participate in coding lessons. 

This is what our students having been learning:

 

Little Coders (Prep & Grade 1):

Learning how to code! Kids will discover the magic of conditionals and collisions - two important elements of basic coding. They will learn these concepts through age-appropriate explanations and fun real life scenarios, demos, games, and dances. They will then apply this knowledge using simplified drag and drop coding blocks to develop a game within our bespoke learning platform, Code Camp World. 

 

Spark: Grade 2 & 3:

Kids will embrace their creative side as they design and code their very own computer game. Students will start off by creating their first level before diving in the world of coding. Students will use use block coding to bring their worlds to life adding animations, in-game physics (gravity), movement (left, right, jumping), throwing items, and baddies!

 

Advanced Spark: Grade 4, 5 & 6:

Kids will embrace their creative side as they design and code their very own computer game. Students will start off by creating their first level before diving in the world of coding. Students will use use a combination of block and line coding to bring their worlds to life adding animations, in-game physics (gravity), movement (left, right, jumping), throwing items, and baddies!
