What is EDSA People Power Revolution day?
It celebrates four momentous days of February 1986, when millions of Filipinos, along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Metro Manila, and in cities all over the country, showed exemplary courage and stood against, and peacefully overthrew, the dictatorial regime of President Ferdinand E. Marcos.
The peaceful revolution led to the departure of former President Ferdinand Marcos ending 20 years of dictatorship, 10 of which were in martial law, and restoring democracy in the country.
Filipinos celebrate by dressing in yellow, and visiting important monuments such as the People Power Monument. Here they have a large concert leading up to a countdown at 9pm.
