Our German Friends
Guten Tag!
We hope by now you have seen the German exchange students around and possibly said hi or practiced your German with them while they have been here. Sadly their trip is coming to an end, however they have had lots of fun immersing themselves in Australia’s culture and lifestyle.
So far they have enjoyed the company of the Mayor of Ballarat over morning tea, had a school and Ballarat tour, visited the art gallery, participated in the swimming sports and some classes, gold panning at Sovereign Hill, stayed overnight in Melbourne, fed kangaroos at the Wildlife Park and spent the weekends with their host family doing all sorts of fun activities! They were quite sad to miss out on the Grampians but as we all know Australia is known for its fires, so instead they explored Geelong.
Tuesday they headed off to their overnight stay in Apollo Bay to explore Australia’s lovely beaches! How exciting! If you haven’t already, go introduce yourselves to them as they are super friendly. As host families we will be very sad to see them leave tomorrow but we wish them the best and safe travels home.
We were quite fortunate to be a part of the German exchange trip in 2023 as COVID put a hold on everything but we are so incredibly grateful that we could go. Excitingly there will be another opportunity next year for those interested in going! We really encourage you to participate in the exchange as it has created some of the best memories and experiences!
Auf Wiedersehen und Tschüss!
