Year 10 Work Experience

Excitement is starting to build as we are working with Year 10 students preparing to embark on the Year 10 Work Experience Program! In week 3 of Term 2 our Year 10 students will have the opportunity to step into the world of work, explore diverse industries, and chart the course for their future careers.

For many students the Year 10 Work Experience Program is a transformative journey that paves the way for personal growth, career exploration and invaluable life lessons assisting with career and pathway decisions in the future.

In just a few weeks our students will be walking through the doors of workshops, laboratories, law firms, engineering firms, building sites and countless other workplaces. Each workplace offers a wealth of knowledge, experiences and insights waiting to be uncovered. From shadowing professionals to getting hands-on with tasks, our students will have the chance to witness the inner workings of their chosen industries firsthand.

For our students the Year 10 Work Experience Program is more than just a glimpse into the professional world, it's a time of self-discovery and skill development. As students navigate unfamiliar terrain, they will develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, time management and problem-solving. These skills are not only crucial in the workplace but also in everyday life.

Over the coming weeks at school, Careers Centre staff will be working with Learning and Wellbeing Mentors and other staff to ensure that this program is a success for all students. From liaising with industry partners to coordinating placements and preparing students, every detail has been planned to provide the best possible experience for our students.

To our wonderful Ballarat High School community, if you own or are working in a company that could possibly offer a placement opportunity for one of our Year 10 students between 29th April to 3rd May, we would love to hear from you in the Careers Centre.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Work Experience Program, please do not hesitate to contact Ally or Joanne in the Careers Centre or email mips@ballaraths.net .
