Green Hat Chat

In support of their 2024 motto, We Belong, We Shine, the Primary School Captains have started a 'Green Hat Chat' initiative as a way of checking in with their fellow Primary School students. As part of this initiative, the captains will wear large green hats throughout the playground and will encourage students to share with them how they feel they belong, and how their light has shined that week. We look forward to all the wonderful conversations and connections these chats will result in!

IT Support

Our IT Team are willing and able to assist with any questions you may have about the College's network, logging on from home, the BYOD program, parental controls for apps or anything else you need. Please reach out to them on itsupport@clayfield.qld.edu.au. They will either assist you over the phone or make a convenient time for you to come to the HelpDesk in the Lower LRC with your child's device. Your child's teacher is also a wonderful first point of call for any questions relating to the technology programs your child is using in the classroom.

NAPLAN Preparation and Testing

If your child is in Years 3 or 5, they should now have the NAP 2024 lockdown browser installed on their device. Please check that they also have a working set of wired headphones in their device case and that their device is coming to school fully charged each day. We will be running a 'readiness' test on Tuesday 27 February. The purpose of this practice test is to support the familiarisation of students with the test format, question and response types and online testing experience, prior to the NAPLAN tests in Week 8.

Semester 1 and Semester 2 Gallery Walks

At the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2, parents are invited to attend Gallery Walks for their child's/ren's year level. These Gallery Walks are scheduled to showcase the learning which has occurred over the Semester. Closer to these dates, teachers will provide further communication to parents.

HPE Swimming Lessons

Our focus in Term 1 for our practical lessons in HPE is on swimming, with learn to swim and stroke correction. For our students in Prep - Year 2, we are very fortunate to have Clayfield Swimming lead our Prep - Year 2 classes with swimming instructors in the pool to work with our students. We are working hard in the HPE department to ensure open communication and our goal is for students to enjoy their HPE lessons as much as possible. Please note the following points:

  • Students in Prep - Year 2 are please asked to bring thongs labelled with their names to wear walking to the pool from their classroom
  • All items are to be clearly labelled with the students' full name
  • Students are to have the following items for swimming: College togs, College rashie, College swimming cap, towels and goggles (recommended)
  • Students should have the Clayfield College swim bag to put their items in

Thank you for helping us with naming all items, to avoid misplacing or losing things.

Thank you for your support in these matters.
