Captains' Corner

Arwen Abad and Dimity Whitaker (Chapel Captains)

Hi everyone, for those families just starting at Clayfield this year, we are Dimity and Arwen, your Chapel Captains for 2024.

2024 has already been extremely jam-packed in the Chapel Department! We kicked off this year with our Commencement Chapel. As students, parents and teachers gathered at this event, there was a sense of renewal and anticipation in the air as we embarked on a new year. Our weekly Chapel services have also been inspiring, with students being able to learn from the wise words of Mr McPherson and participate in singing our Chapel songs led by our talented Chapel Band. We have also started our weekly ISCF meetings on Monday at lunch time in the Chapel. Led by Mr McPherson, we have begun to investigate our individual faith, whilst participating in a range of fun activities. Any Secondary student is welcome to attend, and we look forward to seeing you there! Our next upcoming event is our ISCF Ice-Skating social. We are excited to combine with Brisbane Boys' College and Somerville House for a fun night on Saturday. Unfortunately, all places for this social have been filled, but keep a look out for more ISCF events moving forward into this year!

Now, to share our vision for Chapel this year. We believe that Christian faith at Clayfield can greatly empower students to embody our school motto 'Let Your Light Shine', alongside our core values of care, integrity, resilience and respect. We are keen to explore how Christianity in interconnected with the values of the College, and how all students can learn from this, regardless of whatever their beliefs, faith or religion that they follow. We are planning themed activities which embrace our values, with a focus in particular on care for one another. In Christian Education classes, we are encouraged to learn from the teachings of Jesus, who emphasised love, kindness, and compassion towards others. By living out these principles in our daily lives, students at Clayfield can serve as beacons of positivity, hope and encouragement.

Through prayer, reflection, and acts of service, we can draw strength from our faith to overcome challenges, inspire others, and make a positive impact on the world around us, thus truly letting our lights shine brightly.
