Hello from Music
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
Hello from the Music Room,
The Prep and Grade 1 classes have been clapping, tapping, stomping and marching to show the difference between beat and rhythm. We played a new game to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor, where someone has to try to collect as many beanie bears as possible before we finish singing the song. It's been lots of fun and the record so far is 17 beanie bears!
Grades 2, 3 and 4 have picked up the ukuleles again this term and have been reviewing the chords C, F, Am and G7. They've been practising switching quickly between chords and have already been playing along with songs including Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine and Run Through the Jungle.

3/4S can listen to rhythms in 4/4 time and show what they look like.
Grades 4, 5 and 6 have been working on ideas for an end of year performance. This sounds like a long way off, but when you only come to Music for an hour a week, it comes around quicker than expected. We already have a theme chosen and songs in mind, but we'll leave some of that as a bit of a surprise for later in the year!

Our choir headed off on another trip on Wednesday afternoon, this time performing for staff, visitors and patients at St John of God Hospital. We're lucky to have two venues close enough to walk to that love to have us visit and sing. It was another successful afternoon of singing and community connection.
