Centenary Whole School Assembly

Last week, Northcote High School came together for our Centenary Whole School Assembly, celebrating 100 years of our school community. It was a special opportunity to pause and reflect on where we have come from, while also looking ahead to the future of Northcote High.
Although it was an unseasonably hot morning, students and staff showed great spirit and respect throughout the event, helping to create a positive atmosphere. We were proud to begin the assembly with a Smoking Ceremony led by Wurundjeri Elder Colin Hunter Jnr Jnr, reminding us of the importance of acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and grow.
We also heard inspiring words from our Principal Chris Jones, our 2025 Captains and guest speaker Callum Jones, whose journey from Northcote High student to successful academic was a great reminder of the opportunities ahead for all students.
The assembly also showcased the incredible talent within our school, with performances from the choir, stage band and student band Jiminy Crickets. It was fantastic to celebrate our student leaders and the many people who contribute to making Northcote such a strong and connected community.
As School Captains, we felt proud to see our whole school come together for such an important milestone. Thank you to all staff, students, families and alumni who helped make the day such a success. We look forward to many more celebrations throughout our centenary year.
