We are delighted to congratulate Charlie Mitchell on his selection for the VCE Season of Excellence – Top Designs 2026.
Top Designs recognises the highest-achieving VCE design students across Victoria, with selected works exhibited at Melbourne Museum as part of a statewide celebration of excellence in design, innovation, and creative thinking. Charlie’s selection places him among the top emerging designers in the state.
Charlie was recognised for his project, Stack Modular Storage and Seating, a thoughtfully designed and highly functional piece that responds to contemporary needs for adaptable living spaces. Constructed from Birch plywood, Tasmanian Oak, and low-density polyethylene, the design demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of materials, construction techniques, and sustainable design considerations.
The modular system allows for flexibility and user interaction, reflecting Charlie’s strong design thinking and ability to balance form and function. His work showcases not only technical skill and craftsmanship, but also a clear and purposeful design process from concept through to completion.
Charlie’s work is currently on display at the Melbourne Museum until 26 July, providing a wonderful opportunity for members of our school community to view his work alongside other outstanding student designs from across the state.
Being selected for Top Designs is a significant achievement and reflects Charlie’s creativity, dedication, and commitment to excellence in his VCE studies.
We are incredibly proud of Charlie’s achievement and thank our Design staff for their continued support in fostering high levels of innovation and design excellence across the school.
