Senior Regional Volleyball

Our senior girls and boys' teams both traveled to Diamond Creek for regional volleyball. The girls had a very strong start to the day, getting strong wins against their early opponents. Unfortunately, they just missed the final, as they were beaten on total sets won over the course of the day. Our boys were very strong with only 6 healthy players! After getting convincing wins, they managed to make the final against a very strong Eltham team. They came away with second place and fought very well in the final.

Year 7 Volleyball Boys

On the 26th of March Northcote High Schools Year 7 students ventured out to DISCC to compete in division volleyball. The boys teams started strong and were enjoying every minute on the court during their pool, against schools like Lalor, William Ruthven and Reservoir. With the help of some student coaches, both the A and the B team were able to get a couple of wins under their belts. Unfortunately, in the A division there were stronger teams out there beating our year 7 boys in their 2nd place final. The boys worked well together, hitting some great spikes and tallying up some great rallies in most of their games.

Year 7 Volleyball Girls

On the 26th of March our year 7 girls made their way to DISCC to compete in division volleyball alongside the year 7 boys. Both the A and B had a great start to the day, sharing our the love on and off the court. With the help of some student coaches, the girls were able to improve their skills as the day went on, which included winning either some sets or some games.

They started strong in the final against Eltham, but unfortunately fell short with their 2026 journey ending with that game.

Yr 9/10 Regional Baseball

The year 9/10 baseball team competed in the regional tournament on Monday 30th March. Despite being a player down and coming up against some very strong baseball schools, all NHS students competed with great attitudes and won one game out of 3. Thanks to Oscar Price, Y11 for coaching.

Yr 9/10 Regional Tennis

Our Year 9/10 tennis team competed in the regional tournament with a strong start. We won our first match against Coburg, showing great teamwork and consistency. The second match was closely contested, resulting in a well-earned draw. In our final match, we faced tough opposition and unfortunately came away with a loss. Overall, the tournament was a valuable experience and a great opportunity to represent our school.

Year 8 Regional Softball

On Tuesday the 28th of April, we had a year 8 girls softball team make our way out to Craigieburn. There were a lot of new faces to softball, so the first couple games were difficult fights for us, but by the end of the day the girls had figured it out and managed to come away with a win! We had some successful plays that only increased throughout the day as well, and it was great to see their confidence get better and better! Well done girls!

On Tuesday the 28th of April, the year 8 baseball team went out to Cragieburn to play off in their regional games against Viewbank secondary and Diamond Valley secondary. The day started off with us playing Viewbank, the game started off strong with our pitcher only letting one run. When we went up to bat, we led with 2 bit hits from Mathew and miles leading to us getting one home and one on third base, the next hit brought the

runner home bringing the score to 2-1 our way, unfortunately, Viewbank managed to just pull away in the last inning, scoring 2 runs and making the final score 2-3. Our next game was against Diamond Valley, They started off really strong in the first inning, scoring 4 against us and us only getting one against them, but in the second inning, we switched on and shut them down and giving them no runs while we got 5 in an incredible at bat from everyone to win the game 6-5

On 30/04, our year 7 boys represented NHS at regional volleyball in Cragieburn. We had a very strong start to the day, getting well earnt wins against Coburg, Mernda and Macleod. After progressing to the finals without losing a single set, we faced a strong Uni High team. Our singles performances put us in a great position to win after securing 3 sets, and we were able to finish off the good work with a win in the doubles. It’s very exciting to see what this strong team will do when they represent the school at state! Well done!

Yr 7 Regional Baseball

On Tuesday the 30th of April, the year 7 baseball team went out to Cragieburn to play regionals against Viewbank and Montmorency. The day started off with us playing Montmorency, the game started with Montmorency scoring 3 runs out the gate, we tried to retaliate but couldn’t with Montmorency only letting us get 1. The next inning, they managed to get 4 runs sealing the game, but we still gave it a good shot but could only get 2 runs in making the end score 7-3. The next game was against Viewbank where we had another 1 run start but Viewbank quickly getting 2 runs, the next innings we scored 1 to level the score but Viewbank got back at us by scoring 4 runs to call the game.

Senior AFL

Our seniors school footy day was a lot of fun. The weather was amazing throughout the day which helped everyone’s mood. The team has a great mix of year 11 and 12 students and had great team chemistry throughout the day. We started the day extremely well against William Ruthven. The boys showed great school spirit with William Ruthven and may have deliberately given away a 50m penalty so William Ruthven could have an opportunity to score to give them 2 goals for the game. Our next game was against Preston where we had a great first half however a few things didn’t go our way in the second half, and we didn’t come away with the win. The boys were in good spirits post game and showed great Northcote High Spirit. That ended the footy journey for our year 12s however our year 11s are all keen on going one better next year. Overall it was a great day and a special shout out to our two year 10 helpers – Malachi Chatlier and Otis Glenn as well.
