Head of Primary Update
What a fortnight we have had in the Primary School! The Hospitality Team hosted an afternoon tea to thank the ‘Primary School Helpers’ made up of parents and friends who have helped in the classroom, on camps, excursions or sporting events. The Primary Captains made a speech expressing their gratitude on behalf of the Primary School to the parents and friends who have helped in so many ways.
The Year 5/6 Celebration Day held on North Campus was a wonderful opportunity for students to use their bike skills on the bike track, launch rockets and play games.
To help with a smooth transition to new classes in 2024, the students were able to meet their fellow classmates and teachers last Thursday the 7th December.
The Year 5/6 students were blessed with the most amazing weather for their Lifesaving Day at Mornington on Tuesday 12th December.
The highlight for the Year 6 students was their Graduation on Monday 11th December. They enjoyed a meal together before the formalities started. They presented 3 dances that they had learnt under the tuition of Mrs Naomi Armstrong and then they were able to dance with a parent. The smiles on the faces of the students and their families was a joy to see!
The final school day for students was one of celebration and fun! The day started with a formal Primary Celebration Assembly where each of the students were presented with an award, the new Student Leaders for 2024 received their leadership badges and the choir sang.
Mrs Kathy Scott, Mrs Sue Higgs and myself were farewelled at the assembly. At the end of the assembly the Year 6 students left the assembly with cheers from the other students.
This assembly was live streamed in real time for families who couldn’t attend. Please note an email has been sent to all Primary parents with a password-protected link to watch the recording of the Primary Celebration Assembly. The link will be active for 7-days from now through to Thursday 21 December, 2023.
The final combined activity was the Primary Dance when the students had the opportunity to use their dancing skills they had learnt in PE. It appeared to be a very happy time for both students and teachers with many energetic moves on display!
I would like to extend my thanks to the Students, Staff and Families for the privilege I have had of being part of the Bayside Community for the past eleven years. I have so many happy memories that I will treasure. Thank you for sharing your lives with me.
On behalf of the Primary School, Christmas Blessings to all our students and families. May you spend wonderful times remembering the birth of Jesus.
May God bless you,

2024 Student Leadership
Thank you 2023 Leaders!
Student leaders of 2023 celebrated together as they reflected on all their hard work over the year. They have been busy each week helping out with peace makers and icy poles, plus all of their other duties involved in their role. Bayside Christian College thanks them for all of their efforts!
PrepB and P/1M
In Prep B and Prep/1M, we learnt about how different countries celebrate Jesus’ birthday. We also participated in lots of Christmas activities such as ornament scratch art, threading tinsel, peg board Christmas trees and playdough gingerbread men. It was lots of fun!
1/2J Christmas Celebrations
Class dismissed! Have a great holiday 1/2J - Mrs Johnson
3/4 Then and Now
At the start of Term 4 the Year 3/4 students started a project about Victorian Transport, Education and Entertainment in the 1900s. Each student could choose what topic they wanted to research and then they created a poster about their chosen topic and presented the information to their classmates.

Music Showcase Evening
On Thursday 7th December we had our biannual ‘Music Showcase Evening’, where again we were able to appreciate and celebrate the fruits of all the hard work which the instrumental students have been putting into their learning this semester. Well done to all who performed, especially those who gave it a go for their first time!
Thankyou also to our wonderful instrumental teachers, who have put so much time and effort into helping our instrumental students grow in their abilities and confidence this year: Emma Rogers (piano and woodwind), Elizabeth Mallen (piano), Jacob Mahoney (guitar), Mark Berry (guitar), Bernadette Mether (singing) and Rupert Balint-Smith (strings). Thankyou also to all the parents, family members and friends for your ongoing support for the Music department!
