Happy 2024 and welcome back to school after the holidays! We're thrilled to have you this year and are eager to share a snapshot of the coming term in Years 5 and 6.
We started the school year by jumping straight into leadership training with our new Year 6 leaders. We are delighted to share the remarkable progress the students have made in the beginning of their leadership journey. Through dedicated training and hands-on experience, they have embraced the responsibilities of leading our school with enthusiasm. We are immensely impressed by their teamwork and problem-solving skills demonstrated during various activities throughout our first week of school. From engaging in team-building exercises to tackling real-world challenges, our Year 6’s exemplify resilience and collaboration. We eagerly anticipate the positive impact they will continue to make as leaders of our school.
There are three classes in Years 5/6 and we are lucky to share a beautiful, big space in which we can come together and learn as one large group. Miss Perrin, Miss Kudelka and Mr. Brophy have been working hard, collaborating and participating in team teaching with our Year 5/6 cohort on a daily basis. Most recently, we have been delivering active writing lessons on our first topic of persuasive writing, as well as introducing our Inquiry unit titled - ‘Making Democracy’. It is such a joy to see the students engaging with the content and working incredibly well in teams. We have been very impressed with the students and their participation so far.
We encourage you to reach out if you have any questions or concerns as we believe open communication between parents, teachers, and students is vital for a seamless and supportive year. Working together is key to ensuring the success and happiness of our students, and we can’t wait to get to know you all more as the term progresses.
Thanks,
Tom Brophy, Chelsea Perrin & Carrie Kudelka.
