Brooklyn Park Welcome Picnic

Our inaugural Brooklyn Park Campus Welcome Picnic held last night was an outstanding success! A gathering of over 300 people, made up of parents, children and

staff filled the yard with picnic rugs, chairs and a whole lot of laughter!  The evening featured a bouncy castle, face painting, freshly-popped popcorn, ice blocks, bubbles, giant board games, a coffee cart, lots of great conversations and new connections.

It was an amazing time of gospel community as we welcomed new families not just to a school, but to our Emmaus family, and as staff and parents partnered together to create an amazing space of joy, hope and belonging for all.

We extend a huge thank you to our Brooklyn Park parent community, both in the support received by our Parent Representatives and other parents who helped set up and run the various activities. Also coming out on a weeknight to make our Welcome Picnic such a rich time of community! It’s safe to say you’re bound to see the Brooklyn Park Welcome Picnic back on the calendar for 2025.

South Plympton Campus - Redevelopment, Parking and Road Safety

The first stage of our three-stage Master Plan project has commenced!

The aim of this five-year master plan is to modernise and enhance the facilities at our South Plympton Campus to ensure Emmaus students have the facilities to not just meet the best educational practices of today, but those necessary into the season ahead as educational practices continue to develop.

We're pleased to share with you our plans including the new 3D Images: https://emmauscc.sa.edu.au/about/master-plan

News from our Stakeholder Liaison Officer

For the next 18-24 months Emmaus South Plympton Staff will use on-street parking.

During this season of redevelopment, we aim to work with, and respect our neighbouring community residing in the surrounding streets of our school.

Recently, we have received some calls from our neighbours regarding cars obstructing driveways, blocking crossings and blocking bin access on Monday rubbish collection days. This is not just during the day, but also at pick up and drop off times. Some have shared that they have felt some people have not been respecting their spaces and driveway zones.

A friendly reminder:

  • Please do not park across driveways. This includes cars slightly 'hanging-over' and leaving the car idle while you wait for your child/ren.
  • Do not park on yellow-lined areas.
  • Avoid parking too close to the Children’s crossing on Lynton Ave. Not permitted to within 10 metres of a crossing, bold white lines mark this area.
  • Be courteous to neighbours.
  • Avoid queuing to assist with flow-through traffic
  • The drop off and pick up area is a 2-minute-zone.  Please do not park or wait here during pick up times as this is causing major congestion.
  • Observe all street signage, especially the new designated Disabled Parking ♿area on Lynton Ave

🅿️Council Expiation Notices

The City of Marion is regularly targeting schools in the first months of the school year and will issue expiations for any breached parking rules. The College is unable to waive any expiation notices issued.

🚸Crossing the Road Safely - Please use the crossing

We want to encourage our community to please cross the local roads safely. Please use designated crossing points and the pedestrian crossing.

We ask that you please:

  • Do not cross at the T-Intersection of Lynton Avenue and Castle Street to access the gates by EPAC.
  • Walk down to the crossing and cross safely there. You will notice a teacher on duty by the EPAC gates directing pedestrians to the crossing.

We appreciate your efforts and consideration for our neighbours when parking around the school during this season of College refurbishments.

If you have any questions regarding parking around the College or the redevelopment program please contact me via mshilling@emmauscc.sa.edu.au

To find out more about parking in the Marion City Council area, please visit their website or see the handy brochure: "Parking in the City of Marion".

Blessings,
