From the Acting Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to welcome our new families to Ormond Primary School and welcome back our existing families. The students are happy to be back in school, meeting up with their friends and settling back into school routines. A special mention goes to our Foundation students who have settled into school life so well this week. The staff have been busy during the holidays to set up the learning activities and activities to welcome our students back. The teachers will have a key focus for the first two weeks on creating an inclusive classroom environment and developing engagement with our students. I thank everyone for my warm welcome and look forward to my time at Ormond Primary School.
Staffing Update
Sadly, Simone Andrews will be leaving us. We would all like to thank Simone for her wonderful work during her time at Ormond Primary School. Her contributions have been greatly appreciated by all and we wish her all the very best with her new adventure. Take care Simone, we will miss you!
We welcome back Lorrie Dell from leave and welcome our new staff members, Cindy Lee our Korean teacher, Galina Martin who has returned from leave, Susan Allan our temporary Business Manager and Lisa Osborn our temporary Receptionist. We have advertised for a new STEAM teacher and ART teacher as Dorothy Markou has taken leave for the year and our current ART teacher is in a classroom position.
Working Bee Saturday 10th February 9:00am – 11:30am Astro Turf Removal
The astro turf on the playground is being replaced so in order to prepare the ground the current turf needs to be removed. To make this job easier we would love your support, and your muscles, to assist with the removal of the turf. It lifts very easily so should not be too difficult. Many hands make light work so if you can spare even an hour of your time on Saturday morning that would be brilliant. Depending on how many come along, it could all be done and dusted in an hour. Looking forward to seeing there if you can make it.
Family Picnic 23rd of February 5:30pm – 8:30pm
We will be having our annual family picnic on Friday the 23rd of February from 5:30pm. Bring your picnic dinner along and your picnic blanket as the ground will be concrete due to the removal of the astro turf. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
New Playground
The new playground is currently being installed. It is looking fabulous so far. The children are looking on with anticipation as it is almost ready to go. A big thank you to the Parents and Friends who have fund raised the funds for the project. The students owe you all a big hug!
