John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Rowing Families
Our rowers had a successful weekend racing out at Champion Lakes. Our boys’ squad had their first All Schools Regatta of the season with the Year 9s getting their first experience of racing on a buoyed course, while the girls’ had the penultimate IGSSA Regatta on Saturday.
This weekend, we have the IGSSA Head of the River on Saturday. Please come out to the lake and support our rowers. Racing commences at 8:30am. The senior boys are taking on a new challenge – the Perth to Fremantle Long Distance Regatta on Sunday morning.
We wish all crews the best and hope they have great races and enjoy the experience.
Please ensure you are getting adequate rest, eating well, and staying hydrated to achieve your best at school and in rowing.
With the weather getting wetter and colder, please remember to bring sneakers, a towel and a change of clothes in case we have to do a land session or it rains heavily.
Upcoming Regattas
There are two regattas in a row for the girls, culminating in the Head of the River on 21 June. Please come and support our rowers at Champion Lakes if you can.

JTC scullers once again showed their strength and poise and treated us to some close racing and exciting finishes. All crews are coming together well, and we look forward to seeing them race in the Head of the River on Saturday.

2025 Year 8 Learn to Row
Our Year 8’s are making great progress and have the opportunity in a week to race for the first time. The regatta is at Champion Lakes, with the first regatta on the 28 June and the second on the 26 July. The sign up for the regattas is linked below.
Sign up closes on Thursday, 19 June, for the first regatta.
Year 8s do not need to purchase a zootsuit and can race in their PE uniform.
We cannot tell exact times of races just yet, but Year 8s will not be expected to be at the Regatta the whole day.
A WhatsApp group has been created for Year 8 parents. Please contact me if you haven’t been added to it. You can still contact me via email.
Parents' names are being added to the Stack Team app, which we use for communication, particularly during regattas. Please keep an eye out for this update in your emails.
Year 7 Learn to Row
The Year 7 Learn to row program will be held in Term 3, with the form to register linked here: Learn to row sign up
We are requesting session preferences for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons. It will most likely only be two afternoons offered.
Once we confirm the number of registrations, we will notify you via email.
A bus leaves school at 3:30pm and leaves the boatshed to return to school at 5:30pm for a 6:00pm pick up.
Sessions will commence in the week beginning Monday, 11 August.
Please contact me if you have any queries.
Uniforms
The new zootsuit is now in stock at the Uniform Shop. There is also a training top which can be worn under the zootsuit. The only compulsory item is the zootsuit for racing at regattas. There is stock of the old Zootsuit which can be worn. Year 8s can wear their PE uniform to race in and are not required to purchase a zootsuit.
Stack Team App
Please download the Stack Team App if you have not already done so. This app is one of our main avenues for communication with rowers and their parents. This is the central place for training schedules, training updates, and rowers can contact their coach in case of illness or injury and missed trainings. It is important that all rowers and parents have access.
To get this app please go to the App Store or Google Play and download Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:
- Sign-up to Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
- Log-in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.
