Wellbeing Check-In: Supporting Your Child Mid-Year

As we reach the midpoint of the school year and students wrap up their assessments, the upcoming winter break offers a valuable opportunity for rest and reflection. It’s also a great time for families to check in with their children about how they’re feeling—emotionally, socially, and academically.

Even a simple conversation can make a big difference. Try asking questions like:

  • “What have you been proud of this term?”
  • “Is there anything you’ve found particularly challenging?”
  • “How are things going with your friends?”
  • “What are you looking forward to in the holidays?”

These gentle prompts can open the door to meaningful dialogue and help young people feel seen and supported. We encourage all families to take a moment to connect—you might be surprised by what your child chooses to share.

The Resilience Project

Over the past few weeks, Year 8 students have continued their engagement with the Resilience Project during Tuesday Pastoral Care sessions.

In Week 8, students explored the different types of disagreements and conflict that can arise in various relationships. They learned that experiencing challenging emotions is a normal part of life and discussed practical strategies for navigating conflict in healthy and constructive ways. This session aimed to strengthen their emotional intelligence and foster respectful relationships.

In Week 9, the focus shifted to Gratitude. Students reflected on the people, experiences, and values they’re most grateful for, while also considering how others' perspectives and life journeys shape what they hold dear.

Uniform

It’s been fantastic to see the majority of Year 8 students consistently wearing their uniform with pride—well done! A quick reminder of the current uniform expectations:

  • Blazers: Must be worn to and from school, and to Homeroom each day.
  • Winter shirts: Long-sleeve winter shirts are required; summer shirts should not be worn during this term.
  • Jewellery: Students may wear up to two pairs of earrings in the lobe, along with one simple item each of a ring, bracelet, and necklace. Jewellery must be plain silver or gold.
  • Sports uniform: Jogger-style shoes are required, and long undershirts should not be visible.

Thank you to all families for your continued support in maintaining our high standard of presentation.
