Vision for Engagement

On the evening of Wednesday 11th of June, Megan Skoda (Student Wellbeing Leader) and l took part in the launch of the MACS Vision for Engagement (VFE), a system-wide initiative that places the explicit teaching of behaviour and the importance of student engagement at the forefront of learning and wellbeing.
Megan and I were privileged to attend this launch, which builds upon the existing MACS Vision for Instruction and supports the Flourishing Learners ambition of the MACS 2030 Strategy. The Vision for Engagement highlights the importance of calm, respectful, and inclusive classroom environments where all students are known, supported, and able to thrive.
The VFE focuses on six key elements:
- Teaching respectful behaviour
- Fostering belonging
- Focusing on attendance
- Promoting mental health and wellbeing
- Enabling motivation
- Targeting individual learning needs
As a school, we will continue to explore and unpack these elements together during our upcoming Professional Learning Meetings. The VFE also strengthens our commitment to working in close partnership with families to support every learner at Good Shepherd.
In the meantime, please take the time to familiarise yourselves with the below Frequency Asked Questions (FAQs) of the VFE.
