Heads of Secondary Years' Report

To our wonderful Hazel Glen community,
Term 3 is certainly providing lots of opportunities for connection, with a range of events bringing learning and community spirit to life.
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Careers Expo and Year 10 Subject Selection last week. We are sure that many of the students are feeling excited about the opportunities available to them next year.
This week, we observed both National Week Against Bullying and Science Week, encouraging students to explore the importance of kindness and the wonders of science. You can see more of what has been happening in Science Week in the Celebrations of Learning and Community section of this newsletter. Year 9 students continued their City Experience Program, gaining valuable real-world learning in an urban setting.
Next week, we’re excited to celebrate Book Week with the theme "Book an Adventure." No doubt, students have been working hard on their costumes for Tuesday, 19th August and we look forward to a week full of fun and imagination.
Year 10 students are preparing for their formal on Friday, 22nd August, a special evening to celebrate friendships and milestones. Just days later, our talented cast and crew will take the stage for the College Production of Rock of Ages on 28th and 29th August — a true highlight of the term.
In early September, we welcome families to our Father’s Day Breakfast on Tuesday, 2nd September, and we’ll mark R U OK? Day on Thursday, 11th September, a vital reminder to connect and support one another.
In Week 9, our Year 9 Camp will offer students the chance to build resilience and strengthen friendships. We’ll finish the term with our always-popular Footy Day on Friday, 19th September.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your ongoing energy and support. We look forward to the second half of the term!
