After the Crucible

by Sienna Margarejo (Cast)
They call the sadness after a show ends ‘post-show blues’, and for the cast and crew of DSC’s 2025 production ‘The Crucible’, that’s exactly it. But we cannot forget the countless shades of joy, pride and relief that comes with it too.
It’s a wild ride seeing the stress of auditions, the hours of drilling lines into our brains, the trials and tribulations of set design and the long, long, long, nights and days of rehearsal culminate into three intense and fleeting performances. So much hard work went into this production from everybody involved, and it is not going unnoticed. For the school community and all who watched, it may have been just a two and a half long story of witches, lies and somebody named John, but behind the curtain, it was an insane, creative experience unlike anything before.
Now that it’s all over and I have hundreds of lines stuck in my head that I could probably still recall until the new year, I realise how much I will miss this cast and crew. They made this production fun, exciting and extremely memorable, but ultimately it’ll be the incredibly talented Year 12s who will be missed the most.
El, Eleanna, Georgia, Kai, Nefeli, Ollie and Raul, how dare you be the cause of everyone’s post-show blues? Thank you so much for all the talent, effort and time you gave to make this show.
Finally, many thanks to everyone who was involved from cast, tech, musos, backstage crew, teachers, front of house and promotion, we genuinely would not have a show without you. (Also, a special shout-out to the Manningham Venturer Scouts for coming to support!)
