Chinese Sister School Visit
What an awesome week we had with our Chinese Sister School this term! The Chinese students and staff had a fantastic time with their host families, buddies and the entire school community, being treated to Australian hospitality, excursions and outings, basketball games, activities and more.
A huge thanks to our wonderful host families and buddies, as well as all of our students and staff for their stellar contributions and efforts throughout the week, to make the sister school's visit to Melbourne a very welcoming and memorable one!
Here are some photos of the week:

School Production "Coorperation"
After months of rehearsals and practice, the production of Coorperation finally hit the stage, and it was incredible.
From the cast to the backstage crew and everyone in between, so many students came together to bring the show to life. The energy both on and off stage was amazing and the audience reactions made all the hard work worth it. When we had to perform in front of our peers, the students, everyone was nervous beforehand but the audiences’ reactions and interactions made everything so much more fun.
It wasn’t always easy, there were definitely some last-minute panics and forgotten lines along the way, but we pulled through and ended up with something we’re all really proud of.
Thank you to Western Edge Youth Arts and our teachers who guided us through it all and thank you to everyone who came to support the show. We hope you loved watching it as much as we loved performing it!

Such a wonderful, beautiful experience that I will always cherish throughout my high-school years. I would’ve not even imagined myself having the courage to go up on that stage and to showcase my talents. I loved everything, the ensemble, skills battle, everyone introducing themselves and their interests, and especially, Western Edge.
They made every single rehearsal every Friday after school so much fun, and something that I looked forward to after a busy week. Playing games to recharge, everyone laughing, and everyone (seriously) having fun, made my whole week.
I would be the type of person who would’ve been so scared in meeting new people. But that has changed. Since production went on for a few months during rehearsal, I’ve noticed that everyone had a genuine heart. Everyone was so lovely and energetic. I loved the energy that we brought into the room and I loved how everyone was so supportive. So talented. To remind themselves that they are sharing stories on a precious land that we live on, and I personally think that that is such a beautiful thing.
I may not always say this, but production has been my home. Something that I can use to recharge after a long day. And to the ensemble, they have been so friendly and energetic that I have made so many connections with them. Production is something that I will never, truly forget, and I can’t wait to see what stories others can share on the stage.
Thank you to Western Edge, to our ensemble, Ms Ellis and Mr Polizzi for an amazing experience. Thank you all for giving me this opportunity to share this story.

After working with Western Edge and dozens of wonderfully talented students for the last few months on our production 'Corporation', I can confidently say it was one of the best shows VUSC has put on stage.
Everyone - from year 7 to year 12 to the lead and support artists - worked so hard on the show, remained energetic and optimistic, and supported everyone and anyone they could. I am so grateful to Western Edge Youth Arts for the unconditional support they gave us, despite our hardships and shortcomings. They implemented students’ ideas, their talents, and their weaknesses and strengths. That is what made this production such a wonderful experience that I'll remember for a lifetime.
Despite being present in the school production each year since year 8, I can confidently say that this year's will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you to John Marc, An, Bianca, Gi, Steph, Ricardo, Edith, and Maze for giving me such a spectacular last production.
Thank you to Ms Ellis and Mr Polizzi for organising this program and giving dozens of young students the opportunity to embrace their passion when they may not have another outlet to pursue it in, it truly is a remarkable act that many other teachers wouldn't have the courage to fight for, and I believe that VUSC is truly blessed to have two drama teachers who are so beautifully passionate about the subject they teach because without them VUSC would not have the opportunity to work with Western Edge Youth Arts.

Sports Update
State Champions for our U16 Girls Rugby League (9s) Competition
A big congratulations to the Girls U16 Rugby League team for winning the NRL 9’s final in extra time recently! Despite playing their 5th game for the day, they were able to create the energy required to overcome Staughton College in a thrilling final. Throughout the day the girls showed plenty of skill, character and tenacity to go through undefeated. Well done girls!!
This year, there has been a large emphasis within our VUSC Rugby League Academy to promote, build and deliver a growing pathway for girls. Starting from Year 7, right through to Year 12, we have had our Rugby League Girls training on the field and within the gym week in week out. This dedication has provided our U16 girls with the ability to take on our District within the 9s competition, be undefeated, go on to the state finals and win right through to the end. With the 13s competition coming up this term, please support, look out and be ready for our girls to compete again.
Long-term, VUSC sees a bright future for our girl's pathway and will immerse a side within the U18 Storm Cup in 2026!
A huge thanks to Mr Adam and Mr Dikranis for their coaching and support of the team.
Year 7 and 8 Boys Volleyball
Congratulations to the Year 8 Boys Volleyball team who recently won the Keilor Division Volleyball Championship for the second year in a row, remaining undefeated throughout the competition!
The Year 7 boys also fought hard but just missed out on the finals, with 2 wins and 1 loss.
Well done to all the students involved and huge thanks to Mr Eugenio, Miss Adam and Mr Dikranis for their coaching, bus driving and support of the teams!

Debating
On Tuesday 1st July, the VUSC Year 9 debating team went to Williamstown Secondary College, Bayside Campus to compete in their third DAV interschool debate. The team included Erikha Cormanes as first speaker, Sarah Ali as second speaker (pictured) and Sai Kasturi as final speaker (pictured), enthusiastically supported in their preparation by Hao Hoang and Jackie Tran.
They argued on the negative side for the topic “That Australia should ban the use of herbicides and pesticides in agriculture” against Bacchus Marsh Grammar School and won their debate with Sarah Ali being named equal best speaker on the night.
Congratulations to you all! Debating in public takes a lot of courage and all of these students did a fantastic job, preparing thoroughly, speaking confidently and behaving professionally at all times. Well done to all of you on a fabulous effort! Thank you for being such great representatives of our school.
