Book Week Dress Up Day

Last Friday, we wrapped up Book Week with our dress up day! There was much excitement as students and teachers arrived at School in a variety of creative costumes. The day included a costume parade, where each class had the chance to show off their outfits.

Prep

The Preps have had a great two weeks of school. We loved gymnastics, book week dress up day and swimming! A huge thank you to all of the Prep parents that have helped us out this week!

Year 1

Last week we celebrated Book Week! We loved stepping into the shoes of our favourite characters and joining with the Junior School and Kinder groups to parade our colourful and creative costumes. From brave adventurers to magical creatures, each outfit told its own story of imagination and fun.

In our reading time, we have been exploring fractured fairy tales. It has been so exciting to compare traditional tales with their “mixed-up” versions and to see how changing the setting, characters, or plot can create a whole new story. We’ve enjoyed reading, sharing ideas, and even having a go at our own creative writing. Who knows - maybe one day we’ll be authors of our very own fairy tales!

We also began our swimming lessons this week. Jumping into the pool was such fun, and we are already feeling more confident in the water. A big thank you to our parent helpers who made everything run so smoothly - we couldn’t have done it without you!

The fun never stops in Year 1, and we’re already looking forward to another wonderful week of swimming and learning together.

Year 2

Year 2 have engaged in lots of investigative tasks recently within our Science unit, 'Take, Shape and Create'. We've been exploring various materials such as metal, wood and paper to see how they can be changed. Students have performed tests to see whether objects made of different materials are flexible/inflexible and elastic/inelastic.

Students estimated and measured capacity in maths last week, and have begun looking at division through sharing fruit loops (truffula fruits) equally between truffula trees!

Last week was also full of excitement and adventures as we celebrated Book Week! The Year 2s looked amazing dressed in their costumes on Friday, and throughout the week we spent some time in the library, engaging in different Book Week activities such as a book scavenger hunt!

Finally, we were lucky enough to also spend some time with the Year 8 class (who were the Year 2's buddies when they were in Prep)! We did some get to know you games and activities together. Thank you Mrs Robinson for organising our buddy time, the Year 2s loved it!

Year 3

Year 3s have been learning about different climates around the world and did a fun little experiment called “Weather in a Jar”!

We continued learning how to tell the time and created some fantastic Lego clocks to help us with the concept.

Book Week was a great day for Year 3s! Look at our amazing costumes!

And we’ve started our swimming lessons and we’ve already progressed in our swimming skills!

Year 4

In Christian Studies this term we are looking at Jesus life as it was written about in John's gospel. This week we focused on Jesus' first miracle from John 2 - turning water into wine! Students broke off into groups and spent time coming up with their own play to explain the story. Lots of fun was had as we watched each group present their play outside on the stage area.

Congratulations to Year 4 for getting through their first few days of the swimming program! It has been a pleasure to watch them grow in confidence in the water and to support and encourage each other. But swimming is tiring work as you can see below! We finished off Tuesday afternoon with a game of sleeping lions and I'm farily sure some might have nodded off!
