Year 3–6 Athletics Carnival
On Thursday, 7th of August, our Year 3–6 students participated in the Athletics Carnival. It was a fantastic day filled with energy, effort and school spirit as students competed in a variety of track events including the 100m, 200m, hurdles, 800m, 1500m and relays. It was great to see students challenging themselves, supporting one another and showing determination in every event. Congratulations to all students for their participation and achievements!
Year 6 District Basketball Gala Day
On Monday, 11th of August, our Year 6 students represented Kingswood at the District Basketball Gala Day. Both our boys’ and girls’ teams gave it their all in a very competitive tournament.
Our boys’ team played brilliantly, winning 2 out of their 3 matches. Unfortunately, they were knocked out in the round robin stage by the eventual tournament winners.
Our girls’ team showed incredible resilience and teamwork, with many students playing in their very first basketball games. Their persistence paid off with an exciting victory in the last round of the round robin stage.
A huge congratulations to all our Year 6 students for their effort, sportsmanship, and teamwork throughout the day.
Celebrating Sporting Success
Congratulations to Aiden J from 5S on competing in the Baseball World Championship in Japan. Below is a message from Aiden about his amazing experience:
Hello, my name is Aiden J. Last year, I was selected to play in the 43rd Boys Nankyu Baseball World Championship. To be selected for the Australian team, I had to attend 2 selection sessions with 25 other boys. I was excited when I was selected to represent Australia in this awesome tournament.
In July, 2025, I travelled with my teammates to Japan. We had been training for this awesome experience for over three months and were feeling anxious about the flight but hopeful that we would win a few games and make friends from other countries.
When we got to Japan we took a bus to meet our host family. I had two host families, the first one was a family of 4, while the second family was a family of 5 (4 kids, plus me and my teammate). While staying with my host families we got to experience Japanese culture. Three of the most memorable experiences were going to the lantern festival, visiting a huge sport shop called Mizuno Corporation and visiting Disneyland. The food was amazing! We tried Yakiniku King McDonald’s, Wendy's (a burger restaurant) and we also got to try ramen noodles.
During my trip, we got to play two baseball tournaments. We got to play a friendship carnival against some local teams in Kuki City. The reason we got to play the friendship tournament was so that we could experience the Japanese culture and make friends from Japan, preparing us for the world tournament. During this time, I played against the people I stayed with.
The other tournament was in Edogawa City. This was the international tournament. The teams I played against were USA, Brazil, Brazil girls, Paraguay, China Shenzhen, China Chengdu, Chinese Taipei, Korea, Hong Kong, Japan 1, Japan 2, Japan Girls and All Edogawa. One of my most proudest moments was carrying Australia's flag during the Opening Ceremony. I felt nervous, proud and excited about this opportunity. I played super well in the World Tournament, being rewarded with MVP (MVP means Most Valuable Player) for my team.
Overall, this experience was one of the best trips in my life! It taught me to always make the most of the opportunities I'm given and play at 110% all the time. I would like to thank my mum, dad and brother for helping me get through this amazing trip and my host families for taking care of me while I was in Japan. Sayonara!
