Principal
This past fortnight has been a wonderful reminder of the many things we have to celebrate at Kingswood.
Recently, Kingswood Primary was honoured to be a finalist at the Australian Education Awards in Sydney in the category of Best Primary School – Government. While we didn’t take out the award this time, reaching the finals was an incredible achievement in itself. It is a true testament to the dedication of our staff, the support of our families and most importantly, the hard work and achievements of our students.
Adding to this recognition, our NAPLAN results for 2025 were outstanding. We are particularly proud of the growth shown by our students from Year 3 to Year 5, which was well above that of comparable schools across the state. Several of our local secondary schools have also reached out to congratulate us, noting the exceptional preparation our students have received as they transition to Year 7. It is wonderful to see Kingswood’s impact continuing into the next stage of learning.
Soon, families will receive the Parent Opinion Survey. We truly value your feedback and hope to see increased participation this year. The more voices we hear, the richer our understanding becomes and the better informed we are in planning for the future.
Today we enjoyed one of the highlights of the school year, our Book Week Parade. I had the privilege of MC’ing this much-loved event and chatting with students about the characters they proudly dressed up as. Thank you to all families for the effort you put into costumes, it created a vibrant and joyful celebration of reading.
Child safety and wellbeing at Kingswood Primary School: information for families and the school community
We are committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.
Our child safety framework on our website, explains how we support and maintain child safety and wellbeing at Kingswood Primary School. It includes our:
Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy
Child Safety Reporting and Responding Obligations Procedures, and
Child Safety Code of Conduct, which outlines acceptable and unacceptable behaviours for all staff and volunteers at our school.
Our students and families are important partners in providing a child safe environment. These regular newsletter reminders are one of the ways we ensure our school community is aware of:
our commitment to child safety, and
how to provide feedback or raise child safety concerns.
If you have any concerns about child safety at any time, please contact me. Any child safety complaints or concerns are treated seriously. For more information about our school’s complaints process, see our Complaints Policy.
We also welcome your ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing. If you have any suggestions or comments, please contact me at aaron.cox@education.vic.gov.au
Looking ahead, our Principal Class team will be offsite at several external meetings and conferences, followed by our biannual Japan Student Study Tour. While this means we will miss being at school on Father’s Day, we will endeavour to have one of us present if possible. In the meantime, we wish all our Kingswood dads a very happy Father’s Day in advance.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our school.
