The debating season has now come to a close, and our students have done a fantastic job representing the school.
Our A Grade team (Year 12s) finished 4th in the region, showing great skill and commitment in a very competitive division. The C Grade team (Year 10s) achieved an outstanding 3rd place finish, especially impressive given the number of new members who joined this year and quickly found their stride.
The standout result came from our D Grade team (Year 9s), who were undefeated in the regional rounds, finishing 1st overall. They progressed through to the playoffs and debated brilliantly, but were unfortunately knocked out in a very close contest.
A special congratulations goes to Sarah Le Brun, who received a prestigious Swannie Award as the best Year 9dDebater in our region. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to her talent and dedication.
Meanwhile, our Junior Debating program for Years 7 and 8 is in full swing, with students building confidence and learning the skills of debating. This program will continue into Term 4, giving even more students the chance to get involved.
Congratulations to all our debaters on a fantastic season.
Ten Year 8 Students had the opportunity to participate in a 5-week YAWA Empowered Wellness Program, a Term 3 initiative designed by members of the Wellbeing Team. The program aims to promote positive well-being, build resilience, and support mental health. Through a fun, circuit-style program led by a YAWA Personal Trainer, students built strength and fitness, boosted their confidence, and connected with their peers in a supportive environment. The program created a space for laughter, teamwork, and shared experiences. Students reported feeling more empowered to express themselves, engage in school life, and approach challenges with resilience and optimism. The YAWA Program shows how wellness and enjoyment can go hand-in-hand, fostering both personal growth and a stronger school community. Each student received a certificate for their participation. We celebrated the end of the program with delicious pizzas! Thanks to Anglicare Victoria for subsidising this fantastic program.
These are just words that describe the students’ experience: Motivational, Good, Energy, Amazing, Fun, Happy.
